I have it. Had to sit on it for 3 hours while I waited for it to turn midnight on the west coast. :/ I was not happy to buy a game and then not be able to play it because it wasn't time to release it on the opposite side of the country... I got over it though and have been playing pretty much all day.

Since I started playing, I've yet to get bored at any point. I can throw **** at people/aliens/head crab zombies/ets, shoot them with about 8 or 9 different guns(so far), mark them for Starship Trooper bug look alikes to tear apart, drive a bunch of different vehicles, shoot dropships with a rocket launcher, play catch with a huge robot called "Dog"...... I just don't know what to do with myself. In the last 6 hours of play I've been constantly running from all manner of enemies, solving a bunch of puzzles and have constantly been challenged the whole way. Once I get used ot one type of enemy, I am suddenly assaulted by a new kind. It even has a relatively in depth story line to top it all off!

This is in my honest opinion, this is the best game I've ever played. The hype is all true. Believe, Mr. Freeman...

No, i have a brand new 3ghz p4 sitting next to me. But it doesn't have the ram yet. I ordered it last week and isn't coming in untill thurs. I need 1gb, but 512 will do for now since my cpu is upgraded

I rather not try running hl2 on my 1ghz tbird

Ok! I'm pissed off!

I start up HL2, it starts to load the main menu, and it freezes apparently... I'm going to keep trying though...

Pc specs:

Windows XP2.4ghz512mb RAMgeforce FX 5200 128mb

try updating your video card drivers. My brother had a simular problem with playing doom 3. Updated his video drivers, fixed

Try that and tell me if it still freezes

Apparently Sierra was letting journalists play on a system that had:-2.4GHz P4 800MB FSB HT (I have a 2.4 533MB FSB HT)-2GB RAM (I am considering 2GB Corsair XMS)-ATi 9800 Pro 128 (I have a 9700 Pro clocked/cracked to a 9800 Pro +)

At 1280x1024 with everything turned on. I am buying it tomorrow when I get to work. Fuk Halo 2. I am ready for a game that dosne't leave me wanting more...

I am going to buy it on thurs. I want to start making a mod for hl2 since i hear the map editor is really simple to use. I just need to find a skinner and programmer and i would be set :P

whew..this game is pretty intense. I went to Fry's thinking it would be hyped up with only a few boxes left. But of course both displays are completely full; I got the box with freeman on it. But then my CD drive decided to die on me,so I was thinking it was a hardware problem. Tried out a few different CD drives, and after a few hours I find out its a software problem..quick fix..and I was good to go. Right now I just entered Ravenholm [I think thats what it is called o.O]..its getting pretty freaky hehe

Nerd that I am, I just finished the game. The Citadel is a badass place! You get kicked in the balls again at the end though. Even so, I still think it's the best game I've ever played.

I started at 9:30am and finished at 1:30am this morning. Not bad considering I also changed the slave cylinder on my car, installed a air/fuel gauge, helped butcher a deer, did a load of laundry and cleaned the basement. It did help that I got a lot of the puzzles right the first time through, though I know I missed a few of the extra's since I just wanted to see the end.

yes, dog was interesting. But the game FX were amazing from fire to explotions. To the background and foreground. and the water.

Now to go on to the actual graphics itself. Some of it is just textures copied from the first one. Like the vehicles look like their from half life 1 along with some of the textures.

It can't really match doom 3 graphic wise. Doom 3 didn't use anything from doom 2. That would just be silly. Improvement i would say doom 3 takes the chair. But FX half life 2 takes the chair.

THe whole "you can pick up things" is kind of a old idea. If you like at console games and crap with that ability they do a better job. In this game it seems like your editing the map when you pick up something. You could put an object behind something and not even be next to it....

But i would like to see what mods do with the game. I seeing them making better textures.

I was not at all impressed by doom 3.

You forgot to mention the animations in HL2, they are so smooth. The black headcrab people that charge at you is so awesome, scared the crap out of me when I first got attacked by one.

I started playing it tuesday night (12:02 PST) and beat the game the next night. It's not that it's a short game, it's a good length but I just played it a lot because the game flat out owns. But, I don't like the fact that there is no more HL deathmatch? WTF so lame. And the endings was well... I'll let you guys see it.

Not really choppy, just pauses for a second when I enter a new area. Plus, I have to trun crap down or it goes choppy. So obvious RAM deficency.

I've been waiting for this game too. Unfortunetly I've just spent 150 dollars on stuff for my S14 this paycheck... I'll have to wait till Christmas at this rate.

However I'm hoping my alienware laptop is up to the task.

P4 3.2ghz1gb DDR RamATI Radeon 9800 128mb ram16" screen and a 5400rpm 60gb driveDVDRW for good measure(cost me 2 grand though from a friend oof)
