what radio? Bose or non bose? Also you wont be pumping wattage to the head unit anyway... It supplies signal. If you mean speakers i am sure they are mildly limited being stock speakers, if you're just looking for bass and only amplifying the bass speaker(s)/subwoofers then the sky is the limit but if you go high enough tho, you will have to worry about 12v supply... If you are planning on further amplifying the entire system i would highly recommend after market speakers as well as an after market head unit (cd deck) - look into double din's

http://www.techronics.com/This place is probably the best deals i have ever come across and i have dealt with them multiple times so i know for sure they are legit. Ground shipping is less than a week (From CA to OH)

I think first you have to ask yourself, "What do you want to achieve with your audio system?".

Are you going to use the stock speakers, add a sub, add 2 subs, swap the stock speakers out for aftermarket...so many questions.

HU -> Amp -> speakers. I really wouldn't be too concerned with maximum watts, but instead nice clean watts. You'd be amazed at what just 25w from an amp shounds like. 25w from a HU and 25w from an amp are two totally different things. In fact, I would take 25w(x2) from an amp before I would take 50w(x4) from a HU. Size or higher numbers don't always tell the story.

Case in point, I had Canton 5.25 separates running from a 25w(x2) amp and a single 12 running off 100w(mono). It may not sound like a lot, but inside the car, it was plenty. This was in an '88 Mazda 323 sedanm in the mid 90s, and let me tell you, car audio tech has gotten way better since then.

Also, what minimum watts do your speakers need? What's your budget?

It really sounds like you need to do some more planning (research) before asking more questions.

Max Watt doesn't matter correct, but RMS is everything.... and a good match is very important. Also some name brands do matter for better sound and more pure power/steady power but there are many things you can do to assure steady voltage with minimal drop (capacitors/extra batterys)... The easiest way to go about it is match the RMS of the speakers to the RMS of the amp but also don't allow your MAX from your amp exceed the max of the speakers (bottom out/blow/nastiness - could occur)... i.e. i had 2- 10" subs with RMS of 300w each and 2- amps with the same, 300w RMS, but the max on the subs were 600w and the amps maxed at 520w... was a great match and even tho it was a low power set up the sound and bass (used a bandpass setup) was pretty impressive... Same goes for your component speakers too (mids/highs)

Viggy- Find out what you want to do and let us know... we may be able to speed up some of that knowledge i'm sure your gaining while researching... All in all you will have to decide what you want tho. Let me know if i can help in anyway.

Other than integration, the BOSE really isn't all that, IMO. You can build a better system for not much coin, you just need to choose your components wisely.

The cool thing about audio systems, you can usually build them piece by piece and upgrade pieces as needs, tastes, and technology changes.

Using Crutchfield.com, you can "Out fit your car". Just answer some questions and you will be given different sections to find the parts you need. You will get three different choices when you select each category - Budget Friendly, Customer Favorite, and Staff Favorite.

I don't know what kind of quality Nissan puts in the non-BOSE HU, but most sound systems will get a big improvement just by changing out the HU. You choices are just about endless here. CD, DVD, MP3 only, flip-out, etc. Again, where do you want to take your audio.

Example system (no brands given)HU = $300Speakers F = $200 (separates)Speakers R = $100Sub (optional) = $300 Amp 4ch = $350Amp (sub) = $200 (mono) (not needed w/ powered sub)Misc supplies = $200

Total w/o Sub = $1150 Total w/ Sub = $1650

This is just a wild guess. You could probably build a good system with good stuff for under $1000. Again, your tastes will dictate what you buy and when you buy it. Just try not to cut corners where it counts (power wire, speaker wire, connectors)

You can mix and match brands, but I recommend at least getting your speakers from the same brand, preferably the same style for equal sound.

Look/shop around. Use your local car audio shop's knowledge. Listen to stuff in stores and make you decision. However, speakers will sound different in the store than they will in the car. Sometimes better, sometimes worse.

Again, the best thing for you to do is make a plan and then try to stick to it.
