It is a never ending battle between the forces of light and the evil of darkness [oil that is]!

What the words don't tell you is the manufacturer could care less how your engine behaves once they get past 100k when you might be able to sue them and win.

Lots of things you have to take on faith and if 15-16,000,000 people don't buy new vehicles every year the US economy will collapse.

How does a scientists explain to a non scientific person that dyno oil is not made from dynosaurs.......there weren't enough of them.Heck 8 Billion people wouldn't make a 1/100 of the known oil reserves.

If you can't visualize molecules and atomic structure and don't know what a Micron is how can you understand wear.

If all you had to worry about was whether to change the oil once, twice, three, four times per year and what filter is best vs a microeconomic evaluation of the costs benefits. I guess the world would be a better place...........$60 vs $120 or even $215 per year seems inconsequential to me......in the $5000-$12,000 per year cost of driving.

This topic seems to be the favorite hangout of those that don't know enough to discuss something technically detailed or rigorous.
