i'm not new to the forum but i am new to doing work on my car myself. unfortunately, i have some crazy squeeling from under the hood and it appears to be my power steering. fluid is full; if anything, it's overfilled. could it be the pump or is it definitely the belt? the lower belt that sits closer to the firewall, unerneath the belt that runs the fan is the power steering belt, correct?

any help would be very much appreciated as i have to get this taken care of before work tomorrow.

It could be either. Check the tension on the belt and adjust it if needed. Also, try some anti-squeel belt spray on the belt. If that doesn't resolve it, its probably the pump.

the belt seems very tight.. if some fluid such as oil or something got onto the belt, could that make it squeel?

alright, i hit it with the spray and it helped tremendously - just a little squeek at start and high rpms now - seems to be the belt.. think it got some oil on it cuz crappy KA starts leaking around 100,000 miles.

thanks for the help jerome

buy a new belt for ten dollars and clean the grooves on the pulleys, and spend 10 on a front main seal. Or bar soap can help. you think thats bad you should hear my ac bearings

I know it is hard to believe but before all the fancy smancy liquid soaps we used bar soap to wash our bodies/hands. Just ****ing with you man. just plain cheap no name soap, not in a bottle. And if you got a new belt clean the pulleys and put it on.
