I have a 2008 Altima sedan (3 days old) with the base stereo. I want to upgrade my speakers and put in 2 amps all alpine. I want to keep the factory stereo because I like the way it looks in the car, I don’t know how that will affect the sound. I plan on getting Alpine SPR-13S for the front doors, SPR-13C for the back and SPR-69C for the deck. I don’t know about the 3.5” in the dash yet. I want to use a 4 channel amp for the speakers in the doors (MRP-F450) and one for the 6x9s (MRP-F250). I have been to a few shops asking about what I should do. I havent gotten any good answers and was hoping someone could help. Also, is there a way to remove the metal rods that hold the trunk open and replace them with something else to mount the amps on the underside of the deck?

Everyone is going to tell you that you"Since you are upgrading speaker, you might as well upgrade your deck." And alot of shops told me that but im like.. hell no!I got a sub installed into my stock deck and it sounds fine. It proubly would sound better with a aftermarket deck but whatever. Thump is Thump to me...There is no doubt that your system will defiantly sound better b/c of the new speakers but just NOT AS GOOD if you had an aftermarket deck.Good = Stock DeckGreat = Aftermarket Deck

I was in the same boat that you are in but i decided to keep the deck stock since it cosmetically looked better then throwing a single or double din deck with different LED's.

My $0.02

As an audiophile, my vote would be to get the aftermarket deck. Depending on what you get, you would enhance the performance of your sytem 100%.

I say that because, while the stock BOSE stereo is ok, the one for the base Altimas is minimally adequate... at best. The limits to the stock deck are too many to count, but mainly, you are limited in that you can't control the subwoofer output, only trebel, base, etc. To put it another way, a good aftermarket deck with your factory speakers would sound better than aftermarket speakers with the factory deck! There's just so many more parameters that you can adjust with an aftermarket deck.

And I understand everything snake 23 said, however, in regards to the different LED colors, some units come with the amber color, i/e/ the Avic D3 can adjust to ANY interior color, with over 100,000 colors to choose from for the backlight on the unit. Not that you want to spend that much money, but that's just an example.

In the end, I understand what both of you mean in regards to the factory look. Most folks get aftermarket decks to get away from the factory look, however, your goal appears to be the opposite.

In the end, it just seems like a waste of money to put all of the extras (speakers, amp for highs, subwoofer, amd for subwoofer) and keep the factory deck, if PERFORMANCE is at the forfront of your car audio goals. However, if you choose to do this, there are ways that you can keep the factory deck, and still oversome the limits of that deck with items such as the Rockford Fosgate 360. With the 360, you can achieve truely superb acoustics in your car, especially with aftermarket speakers, and it has RCA outputs for the AMP. Look up this device and email me if you have more qestions on how to make that work. Good luck!
