Alpine Question..

Alright, so i've decided to get back into the sound system game and i need your guys opinion. Im pretty sure i've decided on 2 12'' alpine type rs, or 1 15'', which one do you guys think would be louder?? Alpine 12s rms: 500 a peice, and the 15 with 750 rms. Further more if you guys could help me with suggesting a cheap amp that will bump these bad boys, that could really help to. THANKS

2 12" will move more air, take up more space, cost more and handle more power than 1 15". I'll take the 15 with a PDX-1.1000 or JL 500/1v2.

it depends a lot on what you want out of the system. if you're looking for a lot of bass then maybe the 15, if you still want some clarity, then go with the 12s or even 10s. take a look at the enclosure size recommendations for them, it may be that that 15 will need just as much if not more cubic feet then a couple 12s will. are you willing to lose your trunk for a system?

I just put two Powerbass extreme 10s in a folded slot port box and a Boss 1200 Watt amp in the back of my 300zx and it doesn't leave much room for anything else. T-tops may be a trick to fit in there now too.

Style of box will make a big difference... Sealed is more accurate and "punchy" but requires more power. Bandpass will be loudest and not require as big of an amp. The trade-off is bandpass boxes are "tuned" to hit in a frequency so not as overall musical.

i would go with the two twelves you need to make sure you have a good box for the subs with the right amount of space inside...i am running only a 600w kenwood amp to my two memphis twelves and they are still one of the best sounding in the area
