I just bought my alpine CDA-9833 tuner, and want to install it. Crutchfield states that I should use an AMP KIT to wire this radio to the car battery and NOT use the factory wiring since it has the powerful V-Drive amp in it.

Is this true, do I really have to do this??? Does anyone have this radio hooked up through the factory wireing??

Any advice helps. thanx

ya i've heard that you should do this with the V-drive amplified alpines cause they draw more current than standard decks and the power wire might get a little hot... so i think some 10 gauge wiring for the 12v constant would be sufficient, and as well as creating a new 10 gauge ground is a good idea... i think this is all you'd have to do

Thank you. I have run my wire, and I get my kit to install the radio in the mail today, so im psyched. There has just been some debate on whether im hooking this HUGE power wire up to the yellow memory lead, or the red power lead?? I would think the yellow one since it is a much thicker wire, but it doesnt make sense to me since it is usually for memory. I would think the red one since it is for power, but it is much thinner. Im at a loss here with this. IM gunna try to call alpine and see what they say.

Thanx

i'm thinkin you should be hookin it up to the power, since over short distances the thin wire won't get that hot anyways...
