As far as dissing this post.....free speech, freedom of expression in Canada and Our Good Neighbours the U.S.A...a good many have given up their lives so we can express ourselves....and continue to do so freely, so any arguements to keep our opinions to ourselves is redundant.
Now I agree with grogman as I purchased my V for all the same reasons. I find it really unusual coming from a daily driver that really stood out (a restored 76 Malibu Classic ) and into what I thought would be virtually unnoticable daily driver in the V. Funny, but the BMW drivers, Mercedes, Acura etc are still rude and appear to look down their noses at me as they fly by but the other compacts, and sub compact drivers seem to nod as we navigate the roads together. However most are totally amazed at the room and economy I have in my little V.
Whenever I speak with any other V driver in the real world, I have yet to find on who has any true regrets about their purchase. For some who purchased the standard 6 speed, their gas mileage is not what they hoped but the performance and versatility seem to offset any issues regarding that.
Personally I chose the CVT because of what I heard ans researched (It took a bit of getting comfortable with at first) and I find at best on highway driving I can get 42 mpg, and in the city at temps of -35C I get around 30 mpg. (imp gals, not US gals) Of course that is driving in an economical manner, not flooring or reving it too much, although on one trip of 700 km I drove around 120 to 145 kmh just to see what would happen and I still got about 33 mpg.
As I have said in a previous post I test drove many other vehicles before making my choice the V, and after 18,000 km still feel I have made the right choice for all the right reasons.
