i recently had ALOT of oil spray out of the breather filter on my valve cover. probably about a quart or more and it went all over my engine. i'm gonna have to definitely get a catch can now. but what causes this?

may not be 100% but my guess is blow by pressure, ie pressure that goes from too much boost down of the piston/rings and into the crankcase, it goes up to the head and spills oil out.at least this is what happened to my brother's mustang when it was almost dyin(he put a saleen roots blower the CHEAP way, and it blew his engine up)

^^^^^ About the possibility of the allot of blow by, check your compression to make sure the rings are good.
