The casino I go to all the time is running a promotion called Pick Your Ride. Every Saturday in June, they are giving a vehicle away and you can choose between a Challenger, Mustang, Camaro or Harley Davidson. I made it to the final round Saturday night. OMG...you could hear me squealing all over the casino. It came down to me and 9 other people and some other guy won. He didn't even get excited.

I was having a delima just thinking about winning. The guys in my car club would have given me hell, but I really think I would have picked the Challenger. It was black and REAL GOOD LOOKING!!!

Oh well...

I know EXACTLY how you feel! I hit the power ball number last wednesday and ONLY needed the other five numbers!!!
I like the looks of both the camaro and challenger much better than the mustang.
I assume these were v6's
But, would really like to take the new 5.0 out for an extended test drive!!!

Yup...all V6's and I'm sure very plain Jane. I really would have taken the cash. $12,500 cash and $12,500 free slot play. I could have paid Skyler off and gambled free for quite a while!

Oh well.... :tisk:

I hit a royal flush on video p0ker when I was younger...only bet $1 (max was $1.50) because I was down to my last $5. $2,000 wasn't too bad...I think it was $1,200-1,500 after taxes. And to think that I almost got rid of the other cards because I had 2 queens showing!! Always bet on the big win!

Oh yeah baby....always go for the Royal and the Aces! :yesnod

We spent the weekend before Memorial day down there and I got 2 Royals Friday night and 1 Saturday night. Made hubby drive me home Saturday to put $2000 in the safe because I was afraid I would get intoxicated and lose it all back. (Done it)

Consider yourself lucky that you didn't win the car.
A close friend of mine did win a car in a raffle a few years ago and it turned into his worst nightmare.

When you win a car in a raffle you are on the hook for the full MSRP of the vehicle. You will owe income tax as well as paying state sales tax before you can register it.
If you really want the challenger visit a few dealers and get the best price that you can and purchase it.

I hate to rain on your parade but thats just my $.02

Those were some things that were going through my head while I was sitting there. I would get taxed for full sticker price, then it would be almost impossible to sell it because the dealers can offer such better interest rates than a bank would and incentives.

I wouldn't trade my G for any of those 3 cars, in fact, there aren't many that I would (red z-car :naughty: )

Speaking of Z-cars....we had one plucked out of our parking lot today. Looked like a repo to me. Wrecker just backed up to it and plucked it up and drove off. Somebody is going to have an awful surprise when they get out there.

So a dealer donates a car, gets to write it off as a donation, gets all the publicity and the poor shlub that wins the raffle pays thru the nose

What do you mean, pays thru the nose? If he wins a $50k car, he pays about $4500 in taxes and license. Good deal, I would take it in a new York minute

No no no.....$4500 would only be sales tax. You would also have to pay income tax, of which I think I'm somewhere in the 33% bracket.

Ok...this is just WAY too funny. I Googled Income Tax Brackets and came up with this site.

http://www.moneychimp.com/features/tax_brackets.htm

When I opened it, there was an Infiniti G commercial at the top.

Nothing I hate more than to win an exact $1200 jackpot. I usually play quarter video p0ker and the highest payout is $1000 so nothing is taxable. The state of Mississippi automatically takes out 5% state tax from any hand paid jackpot. That is a rip! I don't live in their state. I always get a win/loss statement at the end of the year. I can always prove that I have lost more than I have won.

All and all....gamb|ing is my second favorite addiction (after cars). Can't help it.
