Hey guys I'm about to buy a 90 240sx but it doesnt run. The front of the engine is covered in oil and maybe that might have messed with the wires or something. The guy moved from Kentucky, and drove it here, then after a week, it didnt start anymore. It tries to start, even the rpm jumps a little bit, but it doesnt turn on. Maybe dead batt? let me know some things that could be causing it. I know this has been covered, but i need the help fast and i am busy trying to figure some things out. Your help will be greatly appreciated.-Arash

How much are you planning on paying for this car? I would be seriously concerned if the front of the engine is covered in oil..

half a grand. The body is in pretty good condition except for a little dent at the end of the qp where it meets the rear. and there is a bit of rust underneath the door.

most of the oil is old oil though. It's not fresh like its a new thing. He said it had been like this for a few years. Im guessing its the crank seal or the timing cover. I can do the seal easily, but not sure about the timing cover. I am betting on the battery being close to dead. but we'll find out in a few hours.

oh there is a leak, i just hope its only the front main. That is an easy task if everything comes off easily.

$500 is a good price but I wouldnt pour too much money into the car based on how it sounds thus far.
