GREAT POINT my man issac!! I completely forgot about this
I read on a 4x4 forum that its a good idea to take a garden hose, and with low water pressure (just enough to not bend the fins), push water through the back of the radiator, towards the front. Now I had always washed the radiator from the front and it looked clean to me. (Little did I know) I tried this back to front method and the water that came out was DARK BROWN and there was all sorts of dirt chunks and sticks, etc that was hidden in the fins of the radiator. It helped my overheating problem about 98%. (But i have done a lot of muddy offroading) Now I only see the needle go up on extremely hot days, when moving very slowly or idle, just like a Mexican border wait
I dont know how much mudding youve done snowsurflax but it wouldnt hurt to do it anyways next time you wash your car, for good measure.... You can get some of it from the top, and the other half from underneath the car up above the fan shroud.
I dont have a bottom splash guard either which might add to the overheating problem, I've read that the splashguard helps with airflow
