i almost joined a lot of you with loosing your versas 2 days ago. We were getting one of the biggest rain storms in New England in a long time. We had one last mother's day and that was really bad but this was 50x worse. I had gone to sleep around 3:00am and next thing i know 3:30am i hear people screaming outside my apt. complex. Just as I'm going to open my door a woman starts pounding on it saying "MOVE YOUR CAR, THE CAULDRON HAS FLOODED!" When I opened up my door all i saw was water everywhere. It was like the movie water world, there was no land to be seen.
What happened was theres a cauldron in the back of our complex, looks like a swamp with a huge drainage system. There was so much rain it got clogged and no one knew till for a lot of people it was too late. There's 125 units here most people have one to 2 cars, anyways about 50 cars were completely submerged all the way to the roof on some and others were not able to be seen. The water clogged all the sewers and everything in here causing the water to range from 6 to 8 ft.
People were getting evacuated in rafts by fire and police dept. Peoples houses completely flooded. Our laundry room is on a sligh hill and lets just say that flooded all the way to the door knob. When I went out at 3:30am to move my car I just couldn't believe what had happened. I am just happy that I parked on a high enough incline where my car hadn't gotten covered with the water the water was almost up to the bottom of my doors but none got in. I usually park my car where all the cars were completely submerged. I lost my cell phone in the ft of water the power was out, so I had no way of getting in touch with anyone, my girlfriend was out of town for the night, man did it suck. It was just me and my dog in all the chaos. I eventually ended up getting evacuated around 6:30am for a good 6 hrs or so till it all got cleaned up. I was a little worried when I left it was less than an inch of water to go before my house would of started to flood.
I took a ride after the rain had died down all around the different towns in the area and there was just complete destruction everywhere from trees taking down houses to splitting them right in half to bridges and roads being non existent . Water making rivers on almost every road causing roads to be shut down. I just feel extremely bad for the people who were unfortunate and lost their cars/houses a lot of the people didn't have insurance so their cars are still sitting in here today. If anyone lives in NH or around you may have seen my place in Dover on the news.
Sorry for such a long post, just figured I's write about the last couple days around here have been in good ol New Hampshire.
