well I almost had my number pulled tonight and no more Spec V. It snowed here kinda bad for here last night and the still a little bit messed up on the roads. Anyhow, I was driving going to work on one of the interstates here (I-65 in front of UofL) and I was alongside a semi. Well, I big hunk of ice comes down off the trailer and hits my car right at the top of my roof where it meets my windshield and the center console outta my car for my map light comes out and hits me in the face and my car is in a spin and I am spinning across 3 lanes. I spin a few times and come to rest about two feet from the Eastern Parkway entrance ramp barrier. I am lucky there weren't many people out on the road or I know I would have hit someone. The car came away with some small dents on the top of the roof that can likely be fixed with the little sucktion cup thingies so I was really lucky that the car is fine and I am fine. Gave me a good scare though. The damn truck driver didn't stop or anything though and that pisses me off more than anything. I guess someone was looking out for me though :icesangel

Glad to know you and your car are alright. I hate driving in the snow, I dont have much experience. I was driving yesterday and thought I was going to kill myself. I fishtailed a few times on 90 degree turns, and almost slid off the road about 5 times.

the 240 is definately the fartherst oppostire of a snow mobile. its rear wheel drive, and relatively light. thats bad for this kinda weather. i talked to chris nichols, and he said he was sideways half the way to work yesterday and this morning. yesterday, he got stuck IN THE ROAD at a stop light he had to stop for. he couldnt' go forwards or back. so he cleared the road off of snow, and had to rev it past 3k to move inches. and this morning, he couldnt' get out of his driveway. took 15 minutes. its barely at a slope, and he would get stuck and the top of the drive. its quite humerous, because i haven't had to get out in this junk w/ my baby :D

damn...glad to hear your aright...they should really do something about that though (the truck thing)...they should aleast try and get most of the chunks of ice off the trucks before they take them out on the road even if they are allready on the road they should at least take consderation to the other drivers and pull over to the nearest stop and try to get that $hit off

I too had a close call but it was right before it snowed, ok here it goes, i work for Domminos pizza and we are in the middle of building a new store, well we had this cut table (stainless steel sheet metal table 6ft long, 3ft tall, 5ft an odd inches deep. well its a really heavy table around 300lbs) we putt her in the back of a ford ranger at 5:30am an tied it down lightly with some cheapo chord. took off down the highway crusing at like 55-60mph we were fine for the first 10mins then a semi passes the truck hauling the table. im behind this truck you know incase the table happens to fall out.... well the semi flys by us an dwhoosh that nasty turbulence goes and lifts that table up an it shoots out of the truck, it hits the ground running (lands flat an is sliding at like 60mph sparks a flying , and im right there , im like oh sh it and start to veer left and KAABOOM i nailed the damn table with my right front, it throws me off balance and i careen into the grass median at like 50mph, and i got a lowerd 240 so here i am killing the underbody in the median and here comes a sewer tile, like 2ft tall concrete slab goin from one side to the other of that median, so qwikly i go up into the on coming traffic enough to clear this sewer and back up the other side sliding sideways to a stop, half out in the fast lane of the lane i started out in, hundred yards or so from the damn table...... scary as hell but my car handled great, and only suffered light damage to the fenders due to the bottoming out

glad your OK cory! The truck driver probably didn't even realize it happened. I think most of the time they don't even realize that they driving a 100 ton missle down the freeway. they are typically inconsiderate people and i still don't understand why.

oh sh*t !

that's some crazy stuff, it just snowed here in tropical delaware just yesterday we got 6 thru 8 inches!

i left my 240 in the driveway, it still looks like a big white block, hehe, i'll probably clean it off later and the roads are pretty clear today.. so maybe i'll try driving it soon

glad to hear you three got out of those situations safely!

that's what having perfomance tires in winter will get you.UI think Iwill swap out my Firehawks for something more proper for the season soon.

I dont wann go all the way to "real" winter tires like Blizzaks, both for reeasons of cost and the fct that it simply doesnt get wintry enough here in KY to put them to proper use.

I will just get the cheapest set of all seasons, I can find in my size and slap them on, and only run them thru this winter.Of course ther is a big range in all seasons, some are not much better than perfomance tires on poor weather, so I will try tyo get one that's on the other side of the range.'

Fred...:)

PS: RWD cars can be just fine in the winter and even out-trac AWD SUV's w/ all season tires, as long as you have actual winter tires on (blizzaks, Alpines etc)

WOW Cory, that sucks, but It's a good thing it wasn't any worse! I don't think it will ever be known how many mishaps there were on Kentucly roads the past couple of days because fo the snow and ice. There were even some fatalities throughout the state. Even more near misses like yours I'm sure. Glad you're OK, man! :thumbup
