[quote=" 95silviase [Bhe was sideways half the way to work yesterday and this morning. yesterday, he got stuck IN THE ROAD at a stop light he had to stop for. he couldnt' go forwards or back. so he cleared the road off of snow, and had to rev it past 3k to move inches. and this morning, he couldnt' get out of his driveway. took 15 minutes. its barely at a slope, and he would get stuck and the top of the drive. that's what having perfomance tires in winter will get you.UI think Iwill swap out my Firehawks for something more proper for the season soon.
I dont wann go all the way to "real" winter tires like Blizzaks, both for reeasons of cost and the fct that it simply doesnt get wintry enough here in KY to put them to proper use.
I will just get the cheapest set of all seasons, I can find in my size and slap them on, and only run them thru this winter.Of course ther is a big range in all seasons, some are not much better than perfomance tires on poor weather, so I will try tyo get one that's on the other side of the range.'
Fred...
PS: RWD cars can be just fine in the winter and even out-trac AWD SUV's w/ all season tires, as long as you have actual winter tires on (blizzaks, Alpines etc)
