This is my first time taken out a transmission, my car is a 91' 240sx manual. I followed the write-ups on nico on how to do it. so far I've disconnected everything, driveshaft, slave master cylinder, transmisson wires, starter, bracket to exhast, the bottom bracket that holds up the transmission. I did all the bellhousing bolts or so I thought and tried to yank it, would not budge I looked around and found a bolt dead center on top of the transmission. My question, is this the last thing holding it up? and what hoses do I disconnect or do I use a special tool to get that last bolt. Please be descriptive, I don't know what those hoses are.

I would be honored for some advice

Grab a wrench and have at it.

Hoses look easy to remove.... I'm not going to have any issues taking out any of those hoses like my car exploding? =)

I had the same problem when swapping in a KA(old one blew)

The only way I found was have like a 2-3 foot extension(or longer don't remember) for the 14mm socket and get at it from the under the car with a universal connector (http://mikoma.com/alloy_artifacts/Photo ... ed.jpgjust in case you don't know what I'm talking about.)

Some tricks that make it easier:Have some one with small hands guide the socket on the bolt. It will help when you don't have to guess where the hell your socket is.If you have some friction tape wrap the universal in it, it will prevent it from flopping or what I call "locking" (when that stupid thing does the two right angles and you have to back off so you can turn it again) I used a metal bar over my breaker bar gave it a good whack with the rubber 2-lb dead-blow and that sucker was lose!

Well if you haven't gotten it out yet hopefully this will help!Oh and the hose that connects to that bracket held on by that bolt is just a breather hose, don't need to really worry about it just remember to put it back when you install the transmission.
