So I was merging onto 95n @ about 10:30 last night, and as always I was carrying some decent speed onto the interstate: about 65-70 mph. Therefore I didn't think merging into traffic would be much of a problem, on the contrary a quick look in my side mirror revealed a pair or HID headlights closing fast in the slow lane, consequently I stomped on it in an attempt to prevent any unnecessary braking. I then realized this vehicle was carrying such a velocity that anything short of a 10 sec. skyline was not going to make a smooth merger. Luckily I had enough presence of mind to aknowledge this and promptly moved into the brake down lane as to avoid being clipped. At this point I was still traveling around 70, it was then that the white STI overtook me in the slow lane and with no regard for human life at a speed I have never seen on the street, in heavy traffic mind you. I would not be far off if I were to guess he had a good 60-80 mph on me. That's right I was doing 70, you do the math. ****ing retarded I tell you, had I not took evasive action I don't even want to ponder the outcome. What a d!ck! People who exhibit such a blatant disregard for others well-being have no right to posses a license. I'm all about spirited driving, but this incident can only to credited to pure and unabated idiocy. Now I would be a hypocrite if I said I've never exceeded the speed limit, although I've always maintained safe distances and only were traffic dictates. There is a time and place for fast driving, it's on the track and occasionally a deserted freeway stretch. It's ****wits like that who kill people and serve to cast enthusiasts of cars in a decidedly negative light. This person does not deserve to own or operate any vehicle nevermind a STI. I hate this person for needlessly endangering my life and doing so with what is in my opinion one of the most capable drivers cars in the showrooms today. Some people have no respct for man or machine. Again, what a d!ck! To those who read this thanks, I needed to vent in order to quell any violence or aggression towards this person I might have exhibited in the future should I see them again.

That's the point I almost did get destroyed literally along with the STI had they hit me. I was not trying to race him if that's what you mean?

For one I was doing 65-70 out of the ramp to merge smoothly as that is the average speed of most cars on I-95, I was not doing 70 while driving on ramp. Although had that been the case the only person I would have been endangering was myself as I was the only one on the ramp at the time. Secondly doing 70 on an interstate is perfectly reasonable where as doing 130mph plus in the slow lane and weaving through traffic is utter insanity, this is the point I am trying to make.

yeah, I prolly would have been stupid and tried to catch up to him and jump in front to piss him off and slow down to the speed limit.Well, I prolly would have done that about six weeks ago. Now I leave stuff like that alone, no sense in the risk.

Sorry to hear it man. It's a good thing you knew what you were doing and were able to handle the situation appropriately.

Around here if you merge into traffic at 55, you're going to cause a lot of people to use their brakes. Earlier today on the way to work, I was doing 75 and I was the slowest car on the road, getting passed by SUVs and family sedans left and right.

It's a good thing that you were alert for that STI. Hopefully he'll slow down sometime soon. On the other hand, you were going ~70. There was no reason to speed up in the first place, and you had a hand in creating a more dangerous situation by trying to get in front of him.

That's not to say that he should have been doing 120+ on a public roadway, though.

I realize you are not defending his actions and I am not attacking you in any way, but it is damn near impossible to gauge the rate at which someone going 130+ mph will overtake you at. I was not trying to stuff him and piss him off, that would have been suicide; literally, because there is no way he would have been able to stop and no where for him to go. I understand most people travel around 80 mph on the interstate, although I failed to mention this section of 95 was a 55 mph zone. This being the case I felt 70 mph to be adequate, when out of nowhere this pen15 decided to re-enact a scene from the "Fast and the Furious". That's all I'm saying man.

It's a great thing u had the common sense/reflex to move into the breakdown lane! I wouldn't want to fathom the outcome at those speeds:( Glad to hear your safe:)

Man, all of these people that are saying merging at 65-70 mph is a problem must have never in their entire lives merged on to an interstate or thruway or highway or whatever. If you try and pull on to an on ramp at 55 you willl do nothing but slow traffic down behind you. If this happens enough times it creates a traffic jam, so thanks guys for merging at 55, i am holding you soley responsible for all of my 3 hr commutes home from manhattan.

I'll take the people merging at 70 over the people here trying to merge going 30ish.

Just posting this cause it happened just this saturday and had something to do with the convo.

Some jackass in a cavalier cut me off this weekend when I was coming off the highway I was probably a good foot or two from him when he did it. Funny thing is we were all following a big group everyone got off except for the jackass and I guess he realised it a bit too late and decided to dive over the white dividing lines and infront of me.

hehe...not similar but something happened to me today. You know how when a light turns green the ppl going straight supercede those that are going to go left from across the street?

Well, usually someone cutting me off would piss me off a little because it's usually accidental. However, when the jackass is a ricer in a "jdm" cavalier doing a mini burnout just to "win" the light is ****ing ridiculous and childish. Sometimes I just wished I had a tail for a cop so that he would get this ***holes.

Perhaps you did want to chase him down, **** i know i would, but if that STI was traveling at a constant speed of 130 (your guesstimate), then there would be no way of you catching up, thats saying you have the rev limiter off ( i know nothing bout your car, dont bash me), perhaps traffic ahead, i'm not sure. But i know i'd chase his *** down, i couldnt tho. So perhaps you would have chased him down if you could have.

To answer your assumption my car could have neither matched him in acceleration or topend, therefore an attempt to chase him down would have been futile. Nevermind an extremely poor decision considering the traffic and stupifying ignorance one must possess to be capable of such retarded driving behavior. I was simply happy to avoid a catastrophic crash.
