Hey guys,

I started this project 2 years ago, moved twice and I've lost track of what a few things are, combined with flat inexperience with 240's and I find myself not knowing a few things. Any questions that can be answered would be AWESOME!

Here goes!

**edited post to remove questions I no longer have :)

I have 4 plugs on the intake side that I'm pretty sure all connect to the car somewhere. I've labelled them for ease of identification. (throughout all the pics)

A second look so you can see the pin count of all of them

Here are the plugs on the car that don't have anything going to them yet.

Here is another bank of 3 that have no home

Not sure which is the inlet/outlet or if it even matters. Any idea?

I have an unknown pipe laying around my garage that I *think* is from this car. It is NOT the dipstick. Anyone confirm?

Thanks dude, I have one of those actually. It's 150 pages, and doesn't show you pictures of the plugs. I know how to read actually :)

Then use the coloured harness diagram for the wires. the hoses you need to ID which device it is, (pictured in FSM) which will tell you where it connects to.

I can tell you, or teach you to fish.

ok, well I'm going to feel stupid when I say this but I found some old pictures prior to my teardown that help me out with all of the major cooling/oil lines. Now all I got left is the little 1/4" vacuum lines, and the sensor that's broken. the sensors are proving hard to look up, all I can see is wiring chartss in cooling. I would imagine it's some sort of temperature sensor, maybe for the gauges? I mean it has a single wire coming from it, so logic is telling me that's what it does. I still need some help with the excess plugs on the harness too. I'm back in the FSM for now.

You're correct on the coolant temp sensor for the gauges being the one that's broken.

The excess plugs on your harness appear to be part of the lower harness to the transmission, oil pressure sender etc. Is that right? I just want to make sure you don't have some strange RB engine harness from an obscure car.

There are diagrams in the FSM for where the hoses go. They should answer all of your questions.

And I'm pretty sure that bent up piece of tubing is (was) your dipstick tube. LOL WTH happened to that thing?! Is that the dipstick poking out the end of it?

hahahaha...yeah I just started google searching for the temp sensors and found out its basically the dummy light on the cluster. I may or may not fix that. I won't right away anyways.

I bought the harness from wiring specialties, so maybe I'll just give him a call and have him help troubleshoot.

That isn't my dipstick, that is more like a half inch line that looks like it would be used to carry coolant. I've been searching all over the internet looking for good angles of stock engines assembled.

Ok well if you still need help here it is. I'll just go down the list of pictures.

The first four pictures all deal with lower harness connections (Alternator, VSS, Reverse Lights, neutral safety switch, gear indicator, etc). I see your trying to use the RB's lower harness don't make your life more difficult than it has to be.

1)Take the RB lower harness off everything except the transmission and lay it aside, then go find your KA lower harness and plug it back into your car and engine everywhere it reaches. It only will go on one way really so it's it's not as bad as it seems. it won't reach the Oil Pressure Sensor and the transmission sensors/switches
2)Cut the VSS and Reverse plugs off the KA close to the plugs as you'll need to extend them. Use your FSM's to identify colors as I don't remember them off the top of my head. Measure your RB lower harness and add the required amount to make the plugs reach there destination.
3)Strip out any extra plugs that aren't needed on your KA harness (neutral safety switch and fifth gear indicator if memory serves me correctly). You won't be using all the plugs in picture 4. Sensors that are noted above.
4)You'll also need to cut off the Oil Pressure Sender Switch from the RB and put it on the KA harness. It needs to be extended slightly so cut off enough to make it work. The blue wire from the RB plug won't be used as the 240 has no oil pressure gauge in the cluster.
5)They used to have an excellent write up on RB25det.org but that site is gone now. If anyone has the write up feel free to post it. Nice pictures and everything. Sorry i have no pictures.

As for the Heater core outlets I'll tell you how mine is hooked up. I remember doing a bit of detective work when hooking those up and my heat works great.
I have the coolant hookup on left side of the RB hooked up to the top heater core hookup on the 240 and the right coolant hookup on the RB hooked up to the bottom heater core hookup on the 240.

The coolant pipe you have a picture looks like the one that goes on the back side of the motor for coolant to go to or from the turbo. I can't exactly identify it because my engine is in the car and it's a little cramped by the firewall and under the turbo. Look and see if there's a coolant pipe on the back of your motor. If there isn't that's probably where it goes.

That pipe isn't the one that goes around the back of the head for the turbo coolant, that one has a banjo fitting on the one end and looks to be a little smaller diameter. I've been looking through the pics of my motor when I tore it down when I first got it and I can't figure it out to save my life... here's the link to my pictures if you want to try and ID it yourself...https://picasaweb.google.com/turbotuner ... 5Teardown#
