closest thing you'll get to a skyline in the U.S., unless of course you buy a G35...

I gonna go out on a limb and assume this is either targeted at Ricers or written by one.

the 240sx is way closer related to a real skyline then a sentra, which shares ZERO parts with a skyline.

mkay...so its an SE-R with a bunch of interior changes. Big whoop. If I see Texas Toys one more time I'm gonna scream though...wtf was up with that advertising...I think they're sending out subliminal messages.

come to think of it, there is some common ground: they're both nissans, and there are some 2.5L skylines... (just w/longitudinally mounted inline six's).:rotflmao

The Sentra Spec-V is mostly a joke (I'd take their brake package though :-). Sorry Nissan, you screwed this one up.

Umm you DO realize that Nissan advertised this with "Skyline Inspires seats and what Not" That was on NIssans website AND the little CD I got. I think it is on ym SE-R screen saver. too. I didnt look at the auction, but if it is a B15 SE-R, the advertising wouldnt be too off......

EDIT...I have seen that auction. It is a civic or accord with skyline style body kit

i dont give a crap what nissan calls "skyline inspired". That is advertising for people who dont know any better. Personally i will never buy a FWD compact "sports" car because it supports exactly what i dont want and what car manuafacturers are trying to ram down our throats. I want RWD compact sports cars like the 240.

Okay...........Nissan is not catering to you. From a business perspective I think it is excellent advertising. The informed (or hardcore) person thinks blah...whatever. The average young person that knows what a Skyline is may get in a hoopla over it. I think the Spec-V is a very good car minus the transmission troubles from last year. Sure you cant "drift" in it, but the performance you get for the money in that class is top notch

oh i definatly think the spec-V is a good car, one of my freinds has one. I also think, however, that car manufacturers have to cater to what the masses of people want to buy, and if the masses show that they would prefer something difforent (rwd) by not buying the spec-v, the manufacturer has to conform or go out of buisness.

Im just ranting though :D

NO I completely understand. I feel the Spec-V should have been RWD. If Nissan is goign to market this as a performance car it should be its own line. It is based off the Sentra so it will share everything. It would take too much R&D or just plain money to convert the QR to RWD JUST for the Se-R. I agree with you though. Unfortuantely.....if you want real performance you have to look elsewhere or fork over 26000 to 30000 for a 350Z.....LOL. HOWEVER I do feel that a RWD sport compact would not be near as successful. Sure 240's are popular. Because they are RWD but moreso because they are cheap as ****. with the money you would spen on a new 240 or RWD sport compact equivalent..you could have a monster 240. I dont see the masses running to buy a new 240 if one where released. Alot of people want it, but I doubt it would sell well enough for Nissan to think seriosly about it. Kinda on the same line as the Skyline. EVERYOEN *****es about the Skyline not having an RB or it looking like a 350Z or that it is this or it is thaat or where is the GTr or the GTR is ugly...how many of those peopel could afford one?? Obviously they cant...because if they could...they would call up motorex and get one............

very good points, hoewver i must say, i think if nissan merketed and priced it rightr, a smal RWD sports car would sell very well, place it inbetween the speec v AND THE 35oz, PERHAPS A RWD CAR WITH THE qr OR SOMETHIGN? DOESNT SOUDN LIKE THAT BAD OF AN IDEA TO ME, sorry guys, computer fuked up and turned the caps on

I think nissan needs a less than 2500lb two seat RWD roadster to compete with the Z4 S200 MR2 Miata Boxter and up coming SMART roadster. Maybe give it a 2.4 or 2.5 liter engine?

eh eh?

Well!

I have a Spec V and love it.I got it due to its performance looks and price. When Nissan was working on getting the Spec V into production they did use the Skyline to come up with some good ideas.Look at the front end and you can see it.The main thing they did was improve on the SE-R idea that went over well in the past. When I got my Spec V it was not becayse it was the "Skyline's little brother" but because I loved the Sentra SE-R's and 200sx SE-R's and I knew that this version was packed full of goodies and well priced.

As far as that auction goes to call a Spec V the closest thing to a Skyline in the US, well you can get a Skyline in the US if you have the $$ and know where to go.A Spec V is no Skyline and was never ment to be called one.

I personally can't forsee Nissan releasing a true small sports car in atleast the near future. Putting 200hp into something as light and small as an S13 just wouldn't be smart insurance wise. Plus, it would decimate the Spec V and compete with the 350z without much work.

but like i said, RWD, and something a lil less 'pretty' and that draws a lil less atention to the 'i have money' 35oZ, honestly as far as insurance, im going to pay out the *** anyway, so why not pay out the *** on something i want?

As stated before if you want a skyline buy a g35. I didn't like this ad at all. I felt it was poorly constructed and moronic.
