Hi Guys,

My name is Kevin, 25 years of age and from the Netherlands. I am the proud owner of a RHD AE86 Levin that I took with me from Australia after living there for a year. The car already has some nice mods but there are some better mods coming up. Speaking of which, this is also the reason for my registration. I'm planning on swapping a SR20 in the AE86 and am on the hunt from some knowledge and parts which I hope to find here!

I can't tell you guys as fellow car enthousiasts that I have a AE86 with some nice mods and not show you a pic so here goes:

Not a lot to see from the outside as most of the mods are for go not show.

Anyways let the hunt begin!

Welcome to NICO! Sorry about your King's coronation song. :chuckle:

Nice looking 86. What are your plans for the SR build? Going for a stock SR or looking to make serious power?

Haha no worries, let's keep it at it's the thought that counts.

At the moment I have a 1.6L 4agze engine in my car which has the supercharger replaced for an GT28r from a JDM S15 and is making around 215whp on 14psi. However because it's only a 1.6L it doesn't have a lot of torque down low. Obviously the consequence of removing the supercharger but that's something the previous owner did.

I'm not planning on going for serious power as I think that is not necessary for a relatively light 86 that is mainly street driven and will also be used for drifting every now and then. My goal is to make a reliable and responsive 300-350whp and rebuild the SR with some forged rods and pistons. As it's an SR from a S14 and has VVL I'm not entirely sure on what I want regarding cams and matching turbo. I'll probably start with the stock cams, rebuild SR and chuck the GT28r on it as I want to do some others things to the car as well and money doesn't grow on trees here in Holland. I know I won't make 300-350whp with this turbo so when the car is running and everything is how I want it to be I'll start looking into instaling a disco potatoe or a GT2871r .64. or something.

Any pointers or reference topics that have some good solid information would be appreciated!

Sounds like you've got a good idea of what you want to accomplish. That is honestly a very good start. would check out the RWD SR20 forum here. The guys there will know a lot more about that specific engine than I do.

If you ever want to RB swap your 86, then let me know. :bigthumb:

RB...I have to say that crossed my mind for a second as I love the sound of them but that will be to much and to big/heavy for the 86. I think it'll change the balance of the car to much and it'll lose it's characteristic handling.

You do have me curious now on why I would have to contact you? Do you have experience with this?

I have a lot of RB experience, but not with swapping them into the 86. I agree, it would probably ruin the 86 as they are all about balance and light weight. This may be the only time I ever say this but... The SR is probably a better swap.

Nice setup! I would have gone for something with a little smaller turbine housing a/r, though.
