Been having really bad digestion issues lately (Bout 6 months) and finally went in to have it checked out. From blood tests and a Sigmoidoscopy *Shudder*,
Turns out I'm pretty sensitive to Gluten and my small intestine is pretty f*** up because of it.

FML because this means no BEER. At least no GOOD beer...and I certainly can't enjoy any on tap. No fast food, soy sauce, cereal, sandwiches....gah.

I was pretty dubious at first...allergies, of wheat? That s*** is in EVERYTHING.

But I've been avoiding any gluten-containing products for a week and I feel 200% better so...
Lame.

What a bizarre thing to be allergic to, like peanuts.

Haha. Glutard.

Actually, I've got a few friends (all under age 27) that have varying levels of intolerance for gluten. They hate having to adjust their diets when eating with others, but when they are cooking for just themselves there are decent alternatives. I wouldn't recommend gluten-free pizza though. I tried it and ended up burping up some weird rice/pizza combo for hours afterwards. And for what it's worth, once they cut out the gluten they have felt much better ever since. No more ridiculous bathroom requirements, if you know what I mean.

I know a couple of people with gluten intolerances...it's not that horrible really. Just stay away from gluten products and try to eat as much alternative as possible.

Friends of mine that are intolerant still drink and stuff, they just know they're going to pay for it. But when you're loopy you don't really notice anymore...

Or drink harder stuff. And I know they make gluten-free beer. I've got some in my fridge. It just doesn't sound too tempting to me personally.

A friend of the family is allergic to gluten, and the doc told her that many people develop the allergy later in life.

"Regular" wheat has gluten in it. That's the whole problem.

And just FYI, gluten is a natural protein/sugar combination.

I've also heard some doctors estimate that 10-20% of US citizens may have some level of intolerance to gluten. I dunno, maybe I'd have better digestion if tried to cut gluten out for a week or two. I'm just not motivated enough to test it out...

I have grown fond of the lethargic, queasy, gassy feeling my current diet gives me, and I, therefore, have no desire to change.

It's been proven that gluten isn't good for humans a long time ago. Some people can just handle it better then others for a while.

Man you think this is bad..

I'm allergic to penicillin.

And I cannot have a LIVE VIRUS SHOT

Such as the flu, or similar.

So when im old, and sick, there is no cure.

I drink a s*** of vitamins, and keep my system (or try to, damn waffle house) healthy as can be! lol

They are one and the same. Though usually Celiac Sprue is associated with intestinal Villi damage.

My wife has that (celiac's). She's allergic to all kinds of things. She drinks red wines and this gluten free beer.

It's 5.49/bottle around here. Despite that it's gluten free, it has a pretty good taste.

However, the yeast used for brewing is another thing she's allergic to and will turn her face red.

About half of my family members on my moms side are gluten intolerant. It seems to take some getting used to, but there is still alot you can eat. My mom was really really sick for the first 18 years of my life, sleeping all the time, always had stomach problems, she is a million times better now that she hasn't eaten gluten in 8 years.

Cap'n Crunch- all are gluten free
Buffalo Wild Wings
MEAT
Potatoes
When you look on the food package, make sure you look for "modified food starch" if it doesn't say the origin like: Modified Food Starch (rice) on the label it can have wheat gluten in it and make you sick. Now that you have quit eating wheat and you feel great, don't let that fool you into thinking you can eat a little wheat. It makes you sick as a dog, even in tiny amounts after you have quit eating it.

Good luck man, and don't be afraid of asking for that burger with no bun. Waiters, even fast food employees, don't even bat an eye.

Start buying GOOD hard cider.

Unfortunately it's really tough to get A++ stuff in the states, it's all in Britain. Hornsby's is pretty good for bottled, though.

But wheat, man what a pain. I'd hate to give up bread for sandwiches. Just going to have to get creative I guess.

Have to watch it when buying hornsby's though...they make two varieties with nearly identical labels. One is a hard cider the other is a cider draft beer. The latter is disgusting.

I do love me some Hornsby's Amber Draft..haven't had any in a few years though....

it's getting up on fall though, I think it'd hit the spot pretty good right now.
