I was wondering how much your rpm drops at idle when you turn your a/c on with the blower motor on 4.

yeah sounds familiar. makes it kinda hard to pull away from stops. torqueless sr! I turned my idle screw out to raise the idle but now when the a/c isn't on it idles really fast! LOL

isn't there some way you wire it to compensate when the compressor is on? i know there is a power steering pressure switch

Yeah the a/c is hooked into the ficd. It does work but it seems like it's not enough. Since looking into this issue a little more I think my problem is serious lack of low end torque.

With my AC on I used to have stalling problems especially during quick Decel in Neutral. It has no stalling problem with AC off. I think this is due to my open atm BOV plus my cams. Those two combined result in an engine that hates to idle anywhere below 900 RPM.

My solution was to just bump up the idle to around 1300. I don't stall anymore unless I am doing things like a three-point turn where it involves lots of short opening and closing of the throttle.

Oh and to answer your question. AC will usually drop the idle around 300 RPM. However it can sometimes make it dip to around 500 RPM if I turn it on while idling.

Curious what cams you have... The previous owner of my car built the engine and he said it has 272s in it. I'm not sure what to think about that but maybe the cams and my greddy intake are contributing to my problems. My car does have quirky idle issues (even with a recirc bov) and at best it pulls about 13 vacuum. Maybe I need to check again for vacuum leaks? It also sucks gas like a hog but I've got so many things working against me here. I've got a huge sc61 turbo, 740 injectors and a jwt ecu. I'm trying to control all this with an safc. I'm beginning to think it's futile. I watch my afr's with my wideband and try to adjust the safc accordingly but everytime I turn something on or off, i.e. a/c, lights, blower motor, it frigs with all my settings, it won't idle right or runs too lean/ rich. I seriously think I see a standalone system in my future. If I don't shoot the car first! LOL

Another interesting question. I've checked so many things with my multi-tester. My battery actually reads about 14.5v and so does my alternator. But I'm confused because when I monitor voltage on my safc, I never see it get over 12.9. I just checked all my wiring on the safc TONIGHT and I can't find any reason for the loss in voltage. When I have my a/c on full and my lights on, It'll drop as low as 10.9!!! I do have a really small battery (lawn and garden style) so maybe that's contributing? But shouldn't the alternator be the electric source once the car starts? I have a lot of gauges and junk drawing amps. I also know that the stock sr alternator is only 80amp. Maybe I can retrofit a 90amp ka alternator on there???
