Does anyone know if you can install HICAS on a regular 240sx and how, and how to make a 240sx all wheel drive.

well HICAS comes stock on the coupe's. as for going AWD, unless you have deep pockets i wouldnt even think about it. but yes, it can be done. using an r33(transmission, rear end, all shafts, and a couple other misc items..not cheap at all) i believe this is correct, but pretty sure thats whats got to be done. many more things to get it AWD but i forgot. id say roughly 8k to go AWD...stick with rwd and an LSD kid..ftw

well i dont have deep pockets but am willing to take a loan and make the best 240 and i want to put HICAS on a s13 hatch and all wheel drive will grip so much better and with all wheel drive and steering and a rb26dett that car will be unstoppable.

a rb26dett with a regular hatch could go 0-60 in 2.1 sec. if tuned correctly so imagine with all wheel drive and steering

yeah, no it couldnt, do you realize the work needed to do that?

cutting and fabricating new subframes, floors, and drivetrain components, not to mention the size differences between the cars themselves, a RB26DETT w/ rb25trans swap will cost in the neighborhood 8-10 K, factor in all the custom work to make the drivetrain fit, along with hicas and the "have to "mods to support the swap like suspension, chassis stiffening, stuff like that, your easily looking at well over 15k, and honestly hicas IS NOT for performance, why do you think all the guys that build these cars get rid of it

i know i would trade my hicas components for non-hicas. must be a glut of hicas parts out there from everyone converting. i know the hicas power steering pump is cheaper even when you buy it new.

..it would cost waay too much to do AWD! not worth it. all HICAS is, is aided steering in the rear. i believe it reduces understeer. again most people take it off. all in all, if you want AWD, turbo& good performance, get an EVO

the hicas dont come on just the coupes, my 93 hatch has it. its worthless.and i am pretty sure the r32 parts would be used for the all wheel drive conversion. and unless u know what ur doing (which u dont and i know this because ur here asking about it) it will cost a lot to get it done custom. full race does a kit for the s14 i believe to make it all wheel drive with an rb26. i think it costs somewhere around like 10-15k.

but if ur bent on trying to put hicas in ur non hicas car, im about to replace my hicas steering rack with a non hicas steering rack, so if ur stupid enough to try it ill sell u my hicas steering rack for 50 bucks

Umm I'm planning more power and a lot less weight than a hatch with an RB and I will be thrilled to be faster that 2.8 to 60

And NEVER take out a loan to modify a car. Buy a car sure, mess with a car, not a chance.

soo let see your thinking that if you put an RB26DETT in a S13 it will be lighter?

well let see R32 GTR =3146lbsS13 with KA= 2600lbs ishs13+RB26DETT W/AWD System = 3200-3400 lbs Not so muchTraying to install an AWD system is what will kill you.

even if you swap out for lighter panels you will still be around what an R32 weighs

can be esialy beaten by a 300hp SR (if RB is stock swap)

My husband raced an R34 GTR at a track one day @ .9bar on a T28 the R34 only beat him by 1 second

R34 was lightly moded and had a perfect launch

I've only seen a handfull of cars modified to change the drive wheels. The only one that I was really impressed with was a 350z with a r34 drivetrain. The price tag was about 100,000 if i remember right. It is not an easy, cheap, or quick project. If you had the skills to complete this project you wouldn't need to ask how to do it. Sorry but thats just the way it is. If on the other hand you want to prove all us haters wrong, we want pics!!
