If it runs its a steal, especially with the touring wheels.

As long as you don't sell your car, no worries!! This is a good counterpoint to spending all kinds of money on these cars, you won't see a dime of it back!!

Don't trust the pricing for anything list by "City Auto Auction". There has to be something up as they list most of their cars for WAY less than normal retail and they sell evenings and Saturdays only. Used to be "by appointment only". I don't think it's a real Used Car Dealership.

They forgot to add that it is missing the engine...Or else that there is a 2K in dealer prep fees, pizza, drinks, shipping, handling, and taxes.

Thats an auction opening price, not a transaction or even an asking price.

The auto auction down the street from me has a silver 98 for $3500 buy it now. It didn't sell the first time out, it is on the bill for this wednesday again. It has just shy of 200k on it. I haven't stopped to check it out, but the exterior looks really clean in driving past.

Auctions that let the general public in for an entry fee [plus higher transaction fees] are less stellor than trade only where sellers are retail dealers [cars came in on trade in or lease dump].

ALWAYS, ALWAYS ask yourself; why is this car at the auction? probably 95% of all auction cars are there because the dealer who took that car on trade knows he doesn't want it thru his ''pre-owned'' inventory because??????????? im not saying there aren't deals to be had but having both worked as a ''pre-owned'' auto sales person and also as a wholesale buyer for a couple of ''pre-owned'' sales lots, there is some downright crooked sh*t going on.

As much as I hate Y33's, I'd buy it, and turn around and sell it. I'm always wary of autotrader ad's that don't have the mileage listed. It's not something you omit unless there's something going on.

Hey now, don't hate on the Y33's. I bought my 97 with 194K for $4300 and have put 40K miles on it with two mechanical brake downs (license plate bulb and ABS relay).

Turns out I bought Christine, she fixes herself and periodically runs over my enemies.

Exactly why I wanted to buy from an individual seller. I have had good luck doing that and have had good luck selling that way also.

Dealers that have a franchise to sell "NEW CARS", don't keep cars more that two or three years old, on their sales lot, for the most part. There are occasional exceptions, but you can rarely find a more than three year old car on a NEW CAR dealers lot.

They are NEW CAR dealership and that is what they have to agree to do when they are awarded a franchise. Manufacturers will even oblige a dealer to move the business location to a NEW or more attractive location with more traffic exposure and/or to get out of a declining area. Of course it's to the dealers advantage to do so. However this shuffle does tend to further accelerate the "going down" look of communities. But that's another story.

Buy from private sellers and steer clear of everyone in the car sales racket.
