I did each one in about two hours, no major problems, with a heat gun (not putting my headlights in an oven). I think they look good with the newly tinted tail lights, you can kind of see that on the profile picture of the car... those and the little circular orange lenses were really the only color left since the tail lights got tinted, and it bothered me. I plan on removing those little orange lenses soon, but I want to get bulbs with a slight orange tint to them first, so that my blinkers are still at least somewhat orange. For the amount of effort it takes I know its a very subtle change, but I'm happy

oh and don't worry about the black grille piece- it's going back to gold soon enough

Your taillights are BLACK eh

Wow

So you just threw a heat gun around the edges and kept moving and pryed them apart as you did it? Nothing special to pulling the lenses apart?

haha yeah- is that a good or bad "wow"?

And yeah man so simple... There are three screws around the edge of the housing that come out first. After that I started at one end with a real wide bladed flat screwdriver and the heat gun. Its pretty clear where you want to apply the heat- hard to explain but there's a little nib all the way around on the back that the sealant is inside of. It really doesn't take much to soften up that glue. I'm convinced that you could leave your lights face down on a sunny day for a couple hours and pull them apart. All this nonsense about a 250 degree oven??? madness.

YOU DA MAN! i havent seen anyone try with a heatgun. They look incredible and im pretty sure everyone on this forum will have to admit your tails look sweet.

Maybe ill take out my heatgun and give this a shot. The issue you may have is the winter, there could be fogging man, make sure you sealed em up real tight

VERY nice work your q is lookin nice!

Dangit, I want to do this so bad!

Oh, and about the turn signals;

That's what you want to get (in 7440). Plus it would sorta match the high beam prism/whatever.I have them on my rear signals and would love to put them on my front. If you do end up taking the orange out of the turn signals, could you do a tutorial?

sweat that, thats exactly what I need- front and rear. Even with the tinted tail lights the orange shows right through. Im wondering- is that the bulb or is there an orange lens somewhere back there? As for the fogs it looks real simple- they seem to be sealed with the same kind of stuff as the main headlights. I think ill be able to get the lenses out without opening up the light though- rather, it looks like you can do it through the bulb hole, by breaking the orange plastic and pulling it out. Ill definitely let you know as soon as I get the new bulbs.

It's totally the bulb, there's no lens in the rear turn signal. Here's mine;

nice man thats exactly what I wanted to see. I don't want to end up with like a ricey blue look up front though... what do you think? Are those lights more blue or white? I'd really like to find a bulb that put out the same kind of light as the HID headlights, you know like a very clean white?

and krott5333... why's everyone hating on the INFINITI logo?? It's not a sticker, I painted that on under the clearcoat but everyone seems to think its stickers. I think maybe I should have done a better job with the font choice, something less plain, less sticker like. Whatever though... the deed is done, no going back now

thats all that should matter. i would never do it to my qx4 but then again i have done several things that you would likely never do to yours. I have a freakin hole in my rear bumper (look at my picture to the left).

i think your tints, tail lights, and headlights are done tastefully.

I don't think they look ricey. The turn signals when not lit are blue/orange/pearlescent, but are amber when lit.

nick i think it looks good with the tails, you got a street setup so anything goes really, the fact that you did that on the clearcoat and its real paint shows you got good paint skillz

I'm going to try the fogs today. Looks pretty simple and I KNOW that I can get the fogs outs haha. I should be able to take the signal bulb out and break the orange lens through the signal opening.I've always liked colored bulbs vs colored lens for some reason.

I'll get some pics up if I do.

1. Tell me step by step how you took the headlights off the QX4, because I have looked everywhere and I cant find out how to do so. 2. Does anyone know the bulb # for the parking lights and how to change them?3. What did you use to tint the tails. Im going to do the exact same thing but keep the turn signal part clear

its three very light coats of a special spray paint; "VHT niteshades." I got it from amazon.com. Over that is a couple coats of clear that I then wetsanded and compounded

Dude just go on eBay & buy some cheapass clear corners if you have a Pathfinder. We can do that cause its a seperate piece, but QXslows can't because its all one piece there (connected to the headlight & whatnot, ya know what I mean?)

Depends on the year, my 99Q has separate corners.
