I have a G37 with the sports package. The summer rated tires are great now, but I live in NY and I'm worried about Dec.- March. Can anyone recommend an all season tire that will fit on the 19" stock sports package wheels. Do I have to change the wheels and tires both?

Hey Bob... if you want my advice... don't go all season.

Buy a solid set of winter tires like Blizzaks.

Winter tires for all 4 wheels,I could not do that to the G37S.

I would have purchased the G35 AWD if Winter weather was an issue.

What impact would the Winter tires have on a car that has sport tuned suspension for performance rated tires? anyone?

No impact. You won't be going that fast on snow. Well, if you're smart, you won't.

The suspension only comes into play when pressed, not at slow speeds.

I got tired of paying for 140 rated tires on my G35 coupe and switched to Potenza all seasons. They're cheaper, quiet, perform well and they have a 400 rating. They have the same profile as the performance tires so you really can't tell the difference by looking at them (for those concerned about appearance).

I'll switch again when these OEM Potenzas wear out. My G37S will never see a race track anyway.

Save the money. You'll need it for gas.

Having lived in NY, the winter tires might be a good investment for that time of year.

Problem is, I've also been scouring for an ultra-high performance all season tire since I bought my car in September, but the only tires that even fit on the stock rims are the OEM Bridgestones or Blizzak winters. I'm not looking to get new rims so I hope someone comes out with something soon.

I was surprised to get the same result. I did find some good all season tires by changing from 245/40 to 255/35 but I didn't research the tire height specs.

If you don't get crazy about plus sizing the tires and shoot for the same height as stock, your speedo will still read correctly and the traction control will be ok. I always plus size the front and rear tires the same amount and never have problems. Done it many times over the years.

I also ran across some performance Blizzaks. Never knew they made performance winter tires. Seems like an oxymoron, eh?

Depends on what you're looking for. Wet? Dry? Both?

As a rule, the low UTQG numbers give you a sticky tire that won't last long.

I liked the Kumho Ecsta 712 but they got loud as they wore.

I liked the Yokohama Parada Spec 2 but they got slippery as they wore. I use the ES100 on my Alfa. Nice performance but they give it a hard ride.

I really like the Bridgestone Potenza RE750 performance series, especially in the wet. I use those on my JRSC GSR. Great all round performance.

I know people that swear by the Falken Azenis for autocross.

I think Michelins suck, they're expensive and the cheaper ones are dangerously slippery IMO.

At the moment, I'm using the Bridgestone Potenza high performance all season on my G35 coupe. Great all round performance and a 400 UTQG. Quiet with a nice ride quality.

The G37S is too new to need tires but I'll probably switch to the Bridgestone Potenza high performance all season when the time comes.

Keep in mind the the Gs will never see a race track. That's what the GSR is for. The Alfa tires will last a LONG time since it's a good weather car but I'll put Potenzas on it when the time comes.

Guess you can tell I vote Potenzas all the way. Great wet/dry performance, great price, great ride and quiet. I repeat great price, you'll need the $$$ for gas!

Of course, that's just my opinion.

so wat do you u have 18s or 19s either one i thought u could put any size tire on as long as the rim size was the same ?

Pay attention to the rim width specified for the tire. If you go over or under that spec you're asking for trouble as the tire could come off the rim in hard cornering.

It's important that the tire bead seats correctly in the rim.

If you want to run a tire much wider than OEM, you'll need a wider rim. Not much point in running a narrower tire.

I was also curious on the best summer performance tire for dry weather. Also just to make sure I got this, I could use a tire that says it fits 9"-10" on my 19x9 rim?

Yes.

The ideal would be a tire that is designed for 8.5" to 9.5" range for your 9" rims, or a rim that is 9.5" wide for that tires range. Either way would be ideal, but as long as you are within the right range, you are fine.

Finally, going 0.5" beyond the correct range would probably not be a concern per se, but way safer not to (I would not do it), particular if you push the tires, or they are low aspect-ratio tires - like a 35 or 40 ratio sidewall or less.

Also important: As long as all the other tire parameter items are consistent with your car requirements. Like the minimum load index, speed rating, rolling diameter, etc.

I think you're asking for a brand to buy but only you can decide on that. You might tolerate a loud, hard riding tire if it works well for you or you might like a quiet tire with a good ride that sacifices a little performance.

Look for AA traction and A tempertaure. High mileage ratings last, low rating don't.

Since you have the Stillen adjustable sways you might consider trying the different settings with the tires you have. You have the ability to set the car up for understeer (push), neutral and oversteer (loose). Well, more or less. Just decide how you like the car set up before looking at other tires. That's why you got the adjustable sways, right?

Take the car to an open area and drive in a fairly tight circle while increasing speed. Pay attention to how the car breaks loose. Change the sway setting and repeat. The best test (I think) is on a decreasing radius freeway ramp but that's a little risky safety-wise and police-wise.

Decide what sway setting you like then compare the specs on your tires to other brands and read the tire reviews. From there, you're on your own. Remember that you can sort of fine tune the tires by adjusting the sways.

Kumho tires I used had a tendancy to let go with no warning. A set of Firestones gave plenty of warning, they would start sliding first and then let go. Of those brands, I'd take the Firestones.

Keep in mind that suggesting a tire brand is like suggesting a girlfriend (or boyfriend, ladies). There aren't many out there that rate a 10 in every catagory.

Im sold on dunlops! i had the sp8000`s zrated on my audi quattro and they stuck like glue! amazing in hot weather And surprisingly good in the snow

Def want most performance and don't mind the harsh ride, I actually like it lol. Looking for the best grip for the price.

Also the sway bars didn't look like they were adjustable. The rear one had two holes and I put it in the 2nd hole to make it stiffer. Other than that nothing else looked adjustable.

Thought the Stillen sways would be the same.

Wet, dry, noise and comfort, the PS2 are on a whole nother planet.

TR likes the new Pirelli P Zero a little more in their latest comparison.

"All Season" is a marketing euphemism for compromised summer tire and not very good winter tire.
