Went to the Sunoco that "itsbrokeagain" suggested.Exit 17s off Southern state parkway east.

$7.49/gal not cheap by any means... $100 a tank

they also sell 110 leaded for about $7.89/gal.

I must say the car is running like abatoutahell.... wheelspin with boost at about 8psi... I will try 14psi at some point, but that would be crazy.

Car runs much smoother and a little cooler but still showing a little lean according to my uego... at about 13.5.

Will have to get that AEM soon.

I got a Mine's tuned ECU....Is it actually tuned for better gas due to it being a JDM ECU?? Is this why you are suggesting to buy 110 or C16?

Doesnt Japan have a different Octane Rating system than the US? Something like there 100 octane is similar to our 93 or lower.

can anyone comfirm that is it required to run a higher octane when using the mine's tuned ecus? Would a simple a/f read tell us that?

Mines ECUs are typically tuned to 100 octane in Japan which equates to 96 octane approx. in US.

However, I was suggesting you try it and see if you gain any benefits from it also. Too expensive to do always with a daily driver.

have fun

David, you're not looking hard enough. You can find 100 octane down in San Jose or you can buy 76 cool blue by the drum at Mach III.

Just get an afc and add more fuel is the cheapest route I'd go instead of buying almost $10/gal gas.

Explain how adding fuel is the same as race gas. In reality its far from it. Adding fuel just makes the car run richer with no good effects whatsoever. Race gas (100+ octane) is used for the higher level of detonation resistance. Which allows increased timing, closer to 12.5 AFR tuning, and alot more boost. You can use Water Injection as a replacement to Race Gas but your limited to whats in the Water Resovior. Its way cheaper though.

Who said it was the same? You seem to have read what you wanted to read and twisted it all around. I just said it was a cheaper route to make the car run richer with an afc. If he says his afr is about 13.5 and he just wants to decrease it to a safe level then add fuel with afc as to my understanding to tuning for a better afr with his Mines ECU.
