I know this has been discussed before but the search button doesn't work. Or I don't know how to use it. But I can't find info on all motor KA. Is there a lot of people of there who go all motor on the KA?

Can anyone help me with this? Just info about all motor KA. Like the fastest KA all motor, etc..??

Thanks

I think I read somewhere that a NA config that is daily driver streetable was a mild cam, header, intake, full exhaust for just under 200 hp. This is not getting into internals like valvetrain etc - I could be wrong but most on here will tell you to just turbo it.

If you do the work yourself, and got the parts at good prices it would definitely be some nice upgrades. Sorry I couldn't really help you much.

uhh i searched this n/a ka forum for as far back as i could go..

tons of stuff you'll read..ka is limited to about 200hp from what i read..maybe a little morei'm rebuilding a ka to be a turbo right now..all in the last month or so that i've been reading on here..and i have the entire valve train..cams..ported head..everything, im going to break it in on the motor im running now..i think i've came up with the number crunched to right at 200 hp, only time will tell

light weight drive train will help a lot too..its been my best investment with my rrelatively stock ka

how come a fully built ka only gets 200hp but a gsr or type gets a lot more

Is there anyway to get like 250hp all motor?

I mean b16A1 can do it. Maybe I wrong anyone can help?

Thanks

well I knew that was the problem

anyways, if you said maybe how much power you wanted we could tell you a more definative answer. I feel a na ka with 13:1 compression would make pretty good number with a slew of other things done. Say a cam, port no polish, slightly enlarged valves,block/pistons at 30 over stock, forged rod/hyper pistons, balanced crank would help to get you up to honda rpm levels, light crank pulley/flywheel....

that would be a nasty car to drive but with peaky power and very bad detonation unless on race juice

To get anywhere near or over the 200hp hump you would def need high compression. You need to search much more.. this has been covered at least like 90 times.

The ka is just not as responsive to mods as other engines. The reason most people turbo their KAs or swap them for SRs is because it is so much more cost effective and easier.

For a NA KA... Custom ECU tuning, high compression, port n polish, cams, light flywheel, light pulleys, itbs, header, full exhaust, cat delete, ect...

not cheap and not likely. I could tell you a company that puts out a ka that has near 200hp but its costly.pump octane around my area is 93 and that is not going to like too high a comp. ratio. You could maybe get to 11.5:1~12:1 but that ping will be present like a fat chick at an all u can eat. That is when you start having to get a custom tune which would be hard for you to do yourself with the comp. change. Plus once you get to a certain point n/a you are done and the only other option is BBBBOOOOOOOOOOOOOSSSSSSSSTTTTTTTTTT one way or another. you could always swap the ls1 in it and pwn,but that gets pricey with custom fab work. IMHO the only replacement for displacement is 35 psi with boost cooler. I hate to tell you not to build a massive na ka but it is so costly for someone to do it then not be happy and go boost anyways. I would like to see a 400~500whp na ka. hmmmmmmmmm time to search

400 to 500..SHEESH..you'd have to at least run 113 octane all day..

not too mention the compression would be soo high on it, i'd sound like the early datsuns that carroll shelby used to race..lawnmower through a beercan haha

but that would be amazing to see..USDM TYTE haha

who makes high compression pistons for KA?

Arias makes pistons with a 10.7cc dome for the SOHC only. I don't believe anyone makes DOHC domed pistons, they'd have to be custom order, but there's no reason when you can just run SOHC flat-tops.

personally, I like the SOHC better. You can put DOHC valves in (they're slightly larger) and there's tons more meat to hog the ports out with. Not to mention more cams are available. but that's just me :D but I also wouldn't ever use that head on a 2.4L either. The valves are just too small for an engine that size.

The reason the KA doesn't make as much power as a B16 is because of its size. They almost flow about the same amount of air when ported, but one is 800cc's larger than the other. The KA has more rotating mass, and it's only half counter-weighted. The KA, however, knocks the socks off of the B16 in the mid-range and low-end torque department, which is why it's such a formidable motor for forced induction. It just can't BREATH in higher rpms, not to mention it really really hates to rev.

highest HP na ka was in the baja cars nissan used to race, but those were built race motors, putting down about 315hp, and no, you cant do that with a street car. also, older single cam ka's nissan used to campaign in scca or something put down the regulation 300hp, and those were also built to sh*t

All you need is a 1300+ fully counter weighted crank, and the ka can become a N/A beast capible of 300 hp. However power/cost ratio is laughable at that point.

if you were really worried about money you could do things really cheap..

get a ka24e block go to a junk yard or a buddy get a de head only slightly moddifications needed to the fornt cover. then get de pistons right there you are very high compression.. so people say on here i guess you are up in the 13.5.1 some peopel got as much as 14.6.1 and then the exspensive part is a greddy e management. go to A motor cycle junk yard and a get a gsx-r 1000 ITBS i believe those are pretty good for a good n/a build cut up yur old intake mani lowes has rubber hose and clamps i thinks its about maybe 45 bux for all the hose and clamps. thats not really much money you would need maybe bigger valves 3 angle valve job q45 MAFS 450cc dsm injectors. and 10mm spark plug wires with some ngk spark plug or something good. and a good port and polish and im sure you would be making over 200hp

Did you guys miss this??? If this guy is saying stuff like that, he's has neither the knowledge nor skill yet to be doing something like this. He'll just end up wasting a whole bunch of money and back where he started.

My advise to you dude is to do a whole lot of researching/studying before you even think about attempting something like this. Even then, you will be much more satisfied going the turbo route both in performance and money wise.

i asked this questions a while back and someone told me to go to a datsun 510 forums and read there builds on engines because they love the ka's and from what i know they like to build it NA too so give it a try or just go to ka-t.org and i bet you will get what you are looking for

revs man revs..the ka24de has a lonngg stroke..cant pull upper rpm's well..but..with its bulletproof crank assembly and stout cast block..its a turbo mans wet dream..i hear of some builds going as high as 700+ horsepower at the wheels!...before a turbo thou..i would upgrade all ya need for the mild N/A set up...that way..when ya can afford the turbo and intercooler..timer ect..you will all ready be set to go....keep us posted man...

P.S. One of the biggest drawbacks to this build is the intake manifold...some are using "itb's" to work around it..the intake many is really limiting..if someone somewhere came up with a manifold thats drop in..it might get us 235hp all moter..would be worth a good 300 bucks.

i know what your saying that what i have really been looking for is a intake mani i see those greddy manifolds for the sr20 i was thinking of making something like that myself.. does any body know what the max horsepower on stock intake mani? not like i will be getting close enough to worrie still being n/a.. lol

did a little reaserch ona manifold solution..seems some are using the upper and tossing the lower part for a box type many where the throttle body attaches to the box...might work to add a few hp..you can easly do it your self if ya have a buddy who can weld aluminum good....im guessing..im no expert..that ya can make a tube or box about 90mm and weld on pattern'd mounting brackets and plates..if ya reaserch ka24de intake manifold diy..it pops up with alot of different types that are moded..no dyno's thou..humm.who knows..anyways..hope this helped someone

K587M89 Wiesco makes 10.5:1 pistons for the KA, I'm sure that if they pistons for it, they will have more information on this topic for you, they make these pistons for stock bore and overbore. I think this may be the best way to go, but you will definately have to change out that intake manifold, & get a ported head if you plan on going that route. Crower mild cams would suit the project unless your changing your crank as well, in which case the stage 3 would be great. Then you take advantage of the steel valves and spray the beast!!!!

What? 200whp on a b16 isn't easy to do at all, and it makes all that power around 8000rpm.

I've seen Greaser's 200whp KA dyno, and it made about the same amount of torque, all before 7000rpm.

If your planning the turbo, you can get some other bolt-on bits that will work in the meantime- 3" exhaust, upgrade the clutch and flywheel, driveshaft. Maybe get some tuning ability with a programmable ECU/piggy-back fuel tuning at least. Then you can fiddle with that so you're familiar, before you start tuning a turboed car.
