Ok boys and girls..

Rich's post has inspired me..

Decided to check the valve covers to see if they were leaking.http://forums.g35club.org/zerothread/355022

I WOULD ENCOURAGE EVERYBODY TO CHECK THEM BEFORE THEIR POWER TRAIN IS UP. as was mentioned earlier.

Anyway, decided to go ahead and change the plugs since my experience has been that they will be out of gap, and they were. Otherwise, they looked OK.

Car idles a little smoother now, not that it was really rough before.

I also can tell that it has gain back 3.47 HP that it has lost!!!

So, the lesson of the day boys and girls is, if you plan on keeping your car past the Power Train Warranty end date AND will not be covered by any other warranty, go ahead and check those valve covers.

AND, since it is a minor pita to do, go ahead and change those plugs while you're at it. You will thank me when you go WOT!!

Back in the day, I think I was changing my plugs and points monthly!!!

Oh, and my valve covers are not leaking!
What are some other things that should definitley be checked on our cars prior to warranty running out?

Aaaand go...

Check your AC....there should be a 30 degree diff. between what it's blowing and the outside air....at least. Check for dirt around the connections...if there is a leak there will be oil which collects dirt.

I would also make sure that you check all of the motors - windows, sunroof...etc

Stitching on the steering wheel as it supposedly peels on the back side.

Driver's seat (though I think you already did this)

Brushed aluminum interior handles and they discolor.

Engine (oil consumption)

Transmission (abnormally worn synchros causing harsh engagement).

Driver's seat movement (there's a TSB on the motors getting loose and the seat "rocking")

Half of those are from a dealership buddy of mine.

Damn - Didn't know there was a seat TSB. Mine rocks, and it bugs the piss outta me.

I shagged a trans already - Bad synchros at 75K miles. Replaced it already, tho.

The manual states that you could benefit from running 1 step colder plugs depending on how hot the heat of the summer is. If you are forced induction it is also a benefit, since they are typically running hotter anyways.

Not so much a problem with the autos, but having a stiffer than s*** clutch and a rocking seat means all of your passengers think you just learned to drive stick

They did the TSB and it still rocks. Stupid design, but oh well. It's better than before.

Let the plugs you pull out tell you if you need colder plugs. No one here can tell you that without looking at the plugs.

If you have signs of overheating (glazing) then step down a notch. If you have signs of dry or wet fouling (sooting) then go up a notch.

If you have neither issue then install with same range. If plugs look good with only gap changes and gas mileage has been the same as always consider leaving them in longer next time.
