The first season of Initial D is 26 episodes, at around 23min each. Then there's the second season (13 eps), the extra stage (~1hr), and the movie (~1:45). Yeah, that's about 24 HOURS of viewing pleasure.
That said, distroing/trading/whatevering the series in the US has always been illegal (google 'fansub faq' or something if you're real curious about all the nuances of international copyright law), but is now even more illegal since Tokyopop (
http://www.tokyopop.com) now has the license to distribute the show in the US and has already started releasing the manga (print version) here.
DVDs were supposed to start coming out this year, but they have delayed release because they are trying to sell the series for TV here in the states as well. The manga started out good, but they have mangled all the names (example, Natsuki is now "Natalie") for some odd reason. I mean, if us stupid americans can't handle a Japanese name, how can we deal with cars that don't exist here (what's a "Trueno" anyways?) and confusing concepts (why does a tofu delivery guy have to drive smoothly?)... </rant>
