alright i dont even have a 300z, but wat i do have is a 90 M30. i belive its the same engine as the pre 90's 300zx, the VG30e not sure tho. any way im gonna put the VG30dett im my infinity but cant find anyone who has don it. well if its the same engine as the pre 90 Z then the mount locations would be the same as that car and im wondering if anyone dropped a TT into their Pre 90 Z?? if so wat type of work was involved in making it fit?? Have u got any help???

The VG30E in the M30 is the same as the motor found in the Z31 (84-89 300ZX). The VG30DETT is found in the Z32 (90+ 300ZX). They are not a direct swap and are not even close to the same motors.

If you need step by step instructions for swapping motors, you are way out of your league and shouldn't even attempt the swap.

Swapping your VG30E for a VG30ET isn't a bad swap. It's done relatively easily and cheaply by Z31 owners all over the place. Actually, more often, the owners opt to just add the turbo onto their existing VG and swap a couple little things (fuel injectors, ECU, manifold, and engine mount).

I do know there is an M30 site around with forums. You might want to ask them more specifics. I believe the car was called the Leopard in other countries of the world.

yo!!!

another turbo question for the m30. chek out f31club.com, there's some info there.

The founder of this site did the first VG30ET swap that I know of. But the pix on the m30 site is kinda blurry since it was back then when digital cams were pricy.

as for the ECU, from what I understand, its better than the Z31 because of the Sequential firing instead of the batch firing.

I read an article about a guy name Steve Mitchell (I think thats his name) that tuned the M30 ECU..

the m30 ecu also has a com port as well.

im not looking for step by step instructions. i just figured someone probly did this b4 so they know what is needed like making new motor mounts or crossmember that type of shniit. so if anyone has done this swap b4 wat types of mods were needed for the job. caus its always nice to get knowlege from some one whos already been there. thanx

Learn to speak Japanese and find a message board with one of the four people in Japan who have done it in a Z31.

I did the swap on a 91 M30 convertible. I got a JDM takeout VG30ET and upgraded the turbo with a t3/to6 good for 500hp. Fuel and ignition management by combination of Apexi and Jim Wolf. Injectors by Wolf, basically his 450hp kit. We had to relocate a few things...Spearco intercooler off EBay....great outcome, glad I did it. It is do-able! SD

Quoting an old *** post, but, the J30 was the Leopard, not the M30

The M30 was called the leopard as well as the J30 in Japan, simply different generations.

As for the vg30dett swap in an M30 I don"t think anyone in america has done the swap yet, and it would require custom mounts, turbo piping, wiring, and probably more. I imagine its not to much different from doing the swap in a z31, so try and search for that.
