hey guys,

heres my most recent issue im trying to deal with. occasionally it feels as though my gears arent going in very smoothly. sometimes they go in better than other times.

i did a test, and at a complete stop with the engine running i tried to enter all gears with the clutch pressed down of course.

it seems that if i take it into each gear slowly, it will grind a little. and if i bring it in really slowly, almost leaving it in half way or so in each gear, it will grind longer. but if i bring it in fast, it wont grind. somehow i doubt that each of my gear syncros are shot.

what could cause this? thanks guys. btw, i recently put new lucas 80/90 gear oil in with lucas stabilizer.

I would bleed the clutch line at the slave to get all the air out. if there is no air then odds are you have a bad Master or slave cylinder

Not to steal your post or anything but I am having a similar issue with my RB20. It all started when my slave cylinder blew after a year. It was a refurbished ka24 one. I had the pin from the rb slave on it because of the different length. When it blew i put a z32 300zx slave on it with the existing pin.

After this I started having issues going into second gear. It grinds in 2nd and bumps in 3-5. It is driveable but I don't really drive it. After this I switched the pin out on the z32 slave cylinder. Still no change after this was done. I bleed the system mind you after I put the new slave on and after I replaced the pin. I then thought it was the clutch master cylinder. I replaced this and bleed again. I still don't have any change.

Do you guys think that it might be the clutch or what. I doubt the transmission is gone after 40,000 miles. My advice to you above is to try replacing the slave and master as previously stated if that doesn't work then listen up to a response to mine.

I think the RB one was longer than the Z32. As for the KA i can't remember back that far.
