All electrics off...?

2001 Sentra SR20DE 52,800mi

I turned the key this morning and the car didn't turn over, nor did any of the dash lights come on, and then the odometer (digital) turned off. I turned the key again and everything stayed off. What's up?

Note: Unrelated SES light at the moment, it's been on for about a week because of a MAF issue causing occasional stalls. Other than that, car has run great. ECU and wiring harness are roughly 2 weeks old with maybe 1000mi on them.

Dead battery?

Battery was replaced not even a year and a half ago. Plus, dead batteries usually die over time and the car had had no especially difficult starts or random lights shutting off or anything. I didn't leave anything on, and the odo didn't shut off til I turned the key.

Too much corrosion on the battery terminal... I wish there was a way to stop that (no, the felt things didn't work for me).
