Alignment

Hey to all the 240sx people in the world. Im new here and had a question regarding frame alignment, it's finally raining here today in Socal and i had a bit of a doozy on a ramp. I have a 1991 240sx Hatch was on a transition ramp rear end slid out and hit driverside rear and swung over to hit driver side front. i noticed it drove a little funny afterwards. Question is, Do i need to get my chassis aligned ??

well.. u need to learn to drive in the rain first.

and i didnt think cars without a full frame could get aligned.prolly suspension related or subframe? and welcome sir to nico.

Most cases, when a person is trying to drift on on ramps in the rain and they dont know how to drive, after they hit the wall, there are quite a few suspensions pieces that need to be replaced. I suggest buying a Honda, FWD might keep you out of trouble.

i wasnt trying to drift, especially in the rain, im not that stupid. But thank you for the kind words. I was just minding my own business, and i probably steered a little funny, and vwooaalla.

I did notice the trunk is a little out of wack. And that the s13 is a unibody, Is that an issue??

It is a uni-body with an engine crossemember and subframe. both are what the suspension lowered connect to. You probably bent an arm, knuckle, or shock.

Firestone and tiresplus stores do free alignment checks. Have them check it out for you.

Thanks, might check it out. I love this car, dont want to toss it away so easily the damage isnt to bad, might put up some pics later today.

By the way, how much work was it to install an ls in ur 240? i was considering it for a while.

if you just hit the wheel then you probably bent some suspension arms and possibly the subframe

Thats the thing it didnt hit the wheel at all. it hit the driver side bumper corner and edge of the tailight then hit the front driver side corner bumper and edge of the fender and the headlight. There were no scratches on the wheels.

what do you mean by driving funny?pulling to one side? rattles? vibrations? feels like its gona blow up?

It feels lose when im on the freeway, and it does pull of to the right side when i hold the steering wheel straight. But its been a day and she felt like herself today except for that pulling off to the right thing.

maybe you hit the tire? sounds like the wheels/alignment got tweaked somehow, how does your rear camber look? symmetrical?

Honestly, stop trying to guess at what might have broke or bent or otherwise when there are sure ways of finding out what the issue really is.

didnt hit any of the wheels, it drives ok except for the car pulling to the right. camber is fine. Have to lift the car and measure and inspect everything, but dont have any time until the weekend.

I was talking to some local guys and one guy we know rode around on bad alignment til his tie rod snapped one day.

Get that shizz checked out stat.*nm tomorrow is the day.
