Ok Steve. Riddle me this. How does my car get Toe in after 2k miles of driving? I did my alignment in Sept/Oct when I put on my new tires.

The other day I started to notice some tire noise from the front end again. So I put the car back on the rack Thur. night. And both sides were toes in 8'. WTF!?!

So I reset the alignment to what Hunter says is spec. 4' and am going to drive it for a few weeks and check it again.

Any thoughts or input? BTW. I am the only one who drives it. So no wifey hitting pot holes ect. 99% of my driving is the 7 miles to work, then back home again. And I have only taken 1 very spirited drive up the mountians.

Did I mention it was TOE'd IN! LOL

The best alignment to cure tire feather is toe in. I had mine set to max toe in per the TSB for the 350z. 2-3k miles later, the tire feathering hasn't returned. Toe in has more of an affect on how the outside of the tire wears and toe out has more affect on how the inside of the tire wears, which causes the feathering.

max toe in is .08in per the tsbnominal is .04

The other alignment aspects for the 350z with tire feathering:Alignment Specs (Unladen);

Cambermin. -1.33degnominal -.58degmax .17degL/R difference .75deg

Castermin 7.42degnominal 8.17degmax 8.92degL/R diff. .75deg

Kingpin inclinationmin. 4.33degnom. 5.08degmax 5.83deg

ToeMin. 0in.nominal .04in.max .08in.

The before specs on my alignment from a couple months ago had my front toe out of spec and I had serious tire feathering issues.

Thanks Red.

I do know what causes tire feathering. (I have been a certified tech for 8 yrs) I am trying to figure out how it toed in after I aligned it to the nominal toe setting of .04.

If anything the car should have been toed out. That would have been the natural wear of the tie rods.

I think it is more a byproduct of the factory alignment specs and the inclination to toe in under normal driving to provide better handling in corners.

As for the change I have no explanation for that, the numbers you refferenced was that total toe or was the total toe 0.8'?
