I found a set of springs locally, if I only changed the rear set of springs, would I need to get an alignment??

I dont know much about alignment or what exactly is adjusted.

Im assuming if I put new lowerring springs in the front I would need to align, is there a limit to how much you could lower it? Would it be limited by a certain part??

Id love to keep my tires in good shape.

Thanks for all advice!!

New springs in a solid axle rear won't need an alignment. If it were IRS, MAYBE. On a 240Z, no, a Corvette, yes.

when you lift the rear, the rear axle will shift to the left because the panhard rod hooks up on the right. (if you drop it, the axle will shift to the right)

if you lift it more than 2", you will have to extend your panhard rod (01silvapathy can you shed some light on this) so that the axle doesn't sit way to the left.

You should be able do lift or drop it 2" without any negative effects tho.

so the panhard rod is actually going to see alot of stress if I lower it more than 2"?

I dont think anyone makes springs that go more then 2" for our car. If they do i'd like to know. Also if you didn't i would replace your shocks / struts right away if your replacing all the springs.

Also the nice thing about the lowering coils, is if i want to do something either rear or front, i do NOT have to use a spring compressor and wrestle with the coils to get them out.

If you have lowering coils like mine, when you lift for example one of the tires off the ground with a jack in the front, when your lowering it, you have to make sure the spring is aligned to the bottom seat point the right way.

no, same amount of stress, im just sayin it wouldn't hurt to get an alignment afterwards but you probably dont have to. the difference in your alignment probably wont even be noticeable.

I hadn't considered the Panhard rod.

I don't think there's anything adjustable in the rear, so an alignment couldn't do anything after a lowering or raising.

And the right answer isn't to change the length of the Panhard rod but to change the length of the the Panhard rod mounts
so the Panhard rod stays level. Otherwise it will cause different behavior in left and right turns. But this is nontrivial (but so
is changing the length of the Panhard rod.
