Alignment Issues

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Took car in for first major service at 1 year. Had 19,000 km on it. Was told I needed an alignment. (To the tune of $177). I drive on paved roads.....In any case I bought the story and had an alignment done.

Back at 26,000 KM for an oil change and to have fuel pump changed per recall. Service manager said the car really needed an alignment!!! I said I just had one done 7,000 KM ago.... He said oh - Well it needs another!!! I raised cain and finally they agreed to do the second alignment at no charge!! (I wonder if the 1st one was ever done or if this is a problem with this car).

Has anyone else been told they needed alignment at such low kms. Service mrg said it was because crossover is low wide car with big wide wheels - doesn't sound right to me... I am a female driver that drives paved roads and not an aggressive driver.

I'd pay attention to the tire wear and also how the vehicle drives. If you feel it pulling one way constantly it could be an alignment issue. If you are getting uneven tire wear it could be an alignment issue.

Did you have your tires rotated when you had your last alignment? It's possible that you have some tire issues and when they saw the tires again 7,000km laters they felt it was from the alignment which has since been fixed.

Did you get the results of the second alignment? Was it out of spec?

I had mine done at 14K (2wd). You could tell by the tire wear the toe was a little towards the plus side. Winter was a little rough this year and the suspension took a pounding traversing icy cross street ruts so I wasn't surprised the toe got knocked out a bit. The dealer alignment was $129 in sales tax free Oregon.

I don't buy into a G-35 wagon requiring more alignments than a G35 sedan. It is probably related to the alignment being a little off when the car was delivered and/or some bump related settling/changes in the suspension.

In the USA I think the alignment is covered by the warranty for the first 6-12 months. (don't remember)

alot of dealers screw around with the drivers, my Acura dealer did that to me too.

best investment? buy lifetime alignment for your car via firestone or something like it. So for the life of this specific vehicle you can bring it in for an alignment whenever and you only pay once...i forgot how much it costs, gonna have to find out again when i bring the EX to get it signed up for the program.

but I drove my TL hard, and probably needed an alignment every 1.5-2 months, so it was totally worth it
