My Q has a bad alignment. I brought it to a couple places and they all told me I had a bad front left ball joint and tire rod. I've purchased the control arm through everythinginfifniti.com and the tire rod through advance auto. I'm wondering if i should change them myself, it seems really easy but I always like to get the advice of some pros first. Maybe someone has some diagrams or anything car specific I should know. what do you think it would cost if I went to a mechanic knowing I will supply the parts??

If your wondering how I let it happen, I didnt, I bought the car with 71,000 miles for 3000$ off a good frind who was leaving for the military. he bought the car in 1997 for 15000$ drove it for 4 months, got in a high speed chase, crashed! which messed up the front end. but he put in 5000$ to fix it hoping one day he would get his license. 7 years later (the vehicle was in heated storage the whole time)he still had no license and was leaving for Germany so he sold it to me for cheap. this car is in MINT condition and I dont want to hurt it by running around with a bad alignment, I dont know how he spent 5000$ and didnt get the tire rod and control arm changed but whatever. I thnk maybe it was on the opposite side of where he crashed

Don't hesitate. If you can change a tire then you can do this. If you don't have a "splitter" or tie rod remover then you can "pound" on the edge of the tie rod socket with a mini sledge hammer and it will fall free.

Good luck!
