I am looking through the Midway USA catalog and I ran across Alexander Arms ammunition that I must admit I have not heard of. They have listed the 6.5 Grendel and the 50 Beowulf. Anyone heard about these rounds?

The 50 Beowulf is used in AR15 uppers.

Alexander Arms makes the upper and the ammo. Its fairly well accepted so hopefully it won't suffer the same fate as something like the 357 Maximum.

No, but I love firearm-related stuff that is named after characters from Beowulf. I want a big gun named The Hrothgar.

Beowulf and Grendel was rough in its shooting but it was a good movie. I enjoyed the movie.bud

Future weapons last night featured a kit for the M4 that converted a 5.56 M4 to the 50 Beo in a matter of minutes. The host of the show just took off the upper receiver on his M4, pulled the 50 Beo upper receiver out of a bag and attached it to his lower receiver. He loaded it up and rock and rolled on a Ford Taurus Wagon. Full Auto 10 rounds....Was interesting to see. Apparently, the rifle/ammo has been used in Iraq.

If I was going to get into 50 cal stuff, I would go for this:

Thats the point, you can use your standard AR lower with the 995 dollar upper.

That is why its pretty cheap for a 50bmg.
