I bought a FRONT CLIP sr20det from http://www.streetstyleracing.com a month later I received a long block engine and transmission, NOT A FRONT CLIP, so I called the guy and he said it was his bad, and that he would ship the front clip. well here I am another month later sitting on this engine, well i went to look at it and there was oil on the spark plugs (possible bad seals), this engine looks like it has alot more than the 30,000 miles that they promise. well the guy Matt that runs the shop wont return my calls wont answer my emails, the whole experience has been completely ****ty. sooo just a caution. do not buy from there.Mike

Hey man, if you paid credit card, I would do a charge back for "goods not recieved what was to be shipped"!! I had 5 months of hassel with him, and he kept saying that his front clip was there, and will ship. He even sent me a bogus pic obviously he had gotten off of a japanese website that I visit frequently. Well story all ends up that he only paid 3/4 of the full amount and my credit card company had taken care of the rest.

He did the same thing to me... not answer my calls, emails or IMs. if you want, his AOL IM name is AUTOGRAFGUY . I am getting pissed just thinking about what he did to me. He offered me many deals, and when i accepted one as a replacement to the clip I was supposed to get, he didnt come through.

I even remembered I had tried to call his number with caller ID blocked, with different phones. he would answer, but as soon as he heard who it was... the call would mysteriously break up and disconnect. I had sent many emails to his website, to his personal email and Im and he only answered about 1 out of 15 of them.

I hope any of this helps. You can probably search Street style in this forum and see what I had to go through.

Sucks that soooo many people have been ripped off by engine suppliers.:(

Makes me want to start my own engine company and just wholsale them to anyone (well, minor taxing just to cover shipping and stuff) and everyone. If I had the time, space, and contacts; believe me I would...but then again, so would a lot of other people.:-\

Well anyway, good luck and I hope everything works out for you in the end. Good looking out.:)

I would imagine it's harder to get a motor shipped to KS than to Los Angeles. If I really wanted to, I could just drive down to the local shops and hand pick whatever motor I want and drive it home that same day. Sucks for you, usually I'm pretty weary about ordering stuff like engines online with a company I never heard of. I hope you get your money back.

Reasons like that is why when i go and get my motor im gonna ride out to unstable, look at there clips and pick the one i want. Hope you get everything sorted out, but if you dont i could always go out there and break his legs for you, for a small fee of course.:D J/P but take it to his ***, im gettin tired of seeing people getting ripped off, by these lil ****s tryin to make a quick buck off of someone.

Hey Barney...he's starting to not be one of the rare ones...but rather one of the common ones :( It's getting rare to NOT get ripped off it seems like. (yes, I realize that 90% of people dont get ripped off...but it does seem like more and more are getting shafted)

really sorry to hear about it. I sure hope you get everything workedout.

All this recently rip-offing is making me nervous.. I've been waiting for my exhuast for like 2 months, its supposedly been delayed in customs, but I wonder.. and there is nothing i can do!

y0! wuz up man... i still remeber your setup.. hehe NICE ! :) you could work inside your hood man.. haha :)

--- Well that's probably another reason i didn't get a SR20DET .. it's too risky... there's a BIG ? mark when you buy one.. it's guarranted to work.. how about it doesn't .. i bet most of us have shops drop in the SR's and if the motor doesn't work they aren't going to say ok briong the motor the works and we will keep the price the same.. we know that ain't happening at all...

That's probably another reason why i kept my KA ... i did buy the car used and everything and don't really know the history of it.. but then again when i rebuilt the engine i know what's going on.. the abuse it will take from me personally..... plus i got myself a KA with transmission and ecu and minor parts (MAF, starter) plus an engine stand custom made for the KA for 300 bucks y0! .. hehe 91 KA too.. thansk to SoFlaJDM... (don't know if he's on NICO).. actually he is another person who is having problems.. he has an oil leak somewhere in his engine (SR)...

I seriously think it sucks that companies are sending engines not in working condition or just sending parts of the clip. just think when you get the SR.. it's not working.. pay a good 500 dollars to send it back and thsose 500 dollars isn't next day air.. it's a good 2-3 weeks ground..

My question is why didn't you guys buy from reputable shops? I got a great clip from Heavy Throttle. I bought from them because it was worth spending a couple more bucks to get a reliable engine with a start-up warrantee then a $1500 engine from some yahoo in CA that I never heard of.

Also shipping from Cleveland to VA was only $55 bucks for some reason. Through R&L carriers.

Let this be a lesson to all of those contimplating the purchase:-Buy from reputable shops-Get references from those that have purchased-Don't buy a clip just because it's cheap-And most importantly RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH!!!!!

Two years ago when I bought my clip there weren't many options and less information. It took me two months to get all of the research together and many, many phone calls to get the info that I needed.

After I spoke to Jeff at HT I was sold and when the guy that was doing my install said that he had bought two clips from HT already that sealed it.

Hell, the clip that I got had a bad coilpack and Jeff pulled one off of his car and sent it to me overnight! That's service

Maybe you should read this thread over at NICO and realise how much business you will lose if you continue to shaft people. I, for one, will never purchase anything from you and will warn everyone I can not to either.

Hope it helps.

you guys are the coolest bunch ever, thanks for all the support. actually i got it all worked out. I contacted the company that he goes through, they are http://www.venus-auto.com and they were holding a front clip for me. the lady, her name was Vicki was VERY helpful, and said that my clip will be sent out on the 10th we basically took streetstyleracing out of the picture. thanks for all the info. and good job molotov on sending the email, they need to know that what they do is not right. if any one has any other information, not just on this guy, but on other shady businesses speak up, get the word out. lets get these people out of the business and not let people get screwed anymore. you guys are the best, thanks for all the encouragment,Mike

I'm glad you got this issue all worked out. It seems like there are a lot of people getting screwed lately by fellow performance enthusiasts/shops. Unfortunetly, that's the shady way some people like to do things. Makes me want to start my own business to just to counteract it. :D~Brendan

ive done 6 engine swaps in my life, ive never checked the compression before i started them, never had a problem.

usually engine importers will send out a GOOD engine. but all my honda engines come from hmotorsonline.com

steve is the man, i told my friend to go with him in the first place...oh well...live and learn...
