I notised no one wants to buy my Q while its missing so I started investigating. Sometimes it misses sometimes it dont so I decided to change the filter and run some seaform through it. I removed the filter and black stuff came out of it. Hmmmm whats this me thinks. I cut the filter open and found it is the glue holding the paper element in. It has turned to chalk. This was a wix filter I wonder if there is a brand that will stand up to the alcohol? Looks like the filter will have to be changed often.

Have you ever cut open a oem filter? I wonder if they are prone to the alcohol as well. The filter that was on there was about 6 months old. I asked the counter guy at the local auto partsbut he was clueless about a alcohol resistant filter..

What makes you so sure it is "alcohol" causing the problem with the fuel filter?

There is another recent post about someone who cut open his filter, or actually just observed goo coming out of it. Might have been OEM and I don't think he knew how long itwas in service.

Q45tech reverse blows his and weighs them to judge trapped contaminants.

Unfortunately history is just that - the past.

I buy 3 gallons per month for lawnmower and weedwhacker so I get to see in a graduated glass cylinder test kit what's happening in the wonderful world of gasoline.
