I had kept it alive as best as I could and loved it. Something about its driving dynamics. But a guest took it out and hit something and broke the rack and pinion.

I am thinking of calling a junkyard. But would prefer if parts of it kept living. The engine was in good shape. There might be people whowant other parts. Any suggestions?

If you can't part it out....do it up right. Let it go with style and good memories.

A HUGE funeral pyre, semi naked dancing chicks, rastafarians playing drums and ganja smokin music, ganja, best friends, ice cold beer, naked dancing chicks, reefer, ice cold beer, comfy chairs....(I prefer Adirondacs)... horny semi naked dancing girls.....you get the picture. Do it at sunset on a beach.

ps....may I please attend???

Yeah, burning man is coming up soon.

Be sure your guest driver is securely strapped into the car when it is lit.

Pictures?

If you're going to be parting it out, you can ensure that it's legacy lives on by donating to other NICO members.

What color was it?

If it was me I would keep it, that's a simple fix.

You just need time and patience as with most of things in life.

What part of the country are you in?

If you were closer I'd help you put a rack in it.

Yeah and don't be fooled into thinking good friends must also be good drivers. Doubly so for girlfriends.

I am mechanically challenged. Also no place to do it. She lives on the street now. And I fear I will have to do something before next street cleaning.

The color is 'desert sand' sort of a warm silver.

Maybe getting a spot at a storage facility and storing the car in there? That way you part it out at your leisure. I hate to see a good Q go to waste.

Same here I would rather give my spare rack away for free than see another Q45 go to waste because of a bad rack. Well not for free but you guys know what I mean.

Maybe you should. I like to think of NICO as a fraternity. When some jerk broke my driver's side mirror in a parking lot, I posted a picture of it and lamented the damage. anlasak (now Raxephon) sent me a spare mirror. I just covered shipping.

If it was me, and I had a spare one laying about, I'd give it away.

I find that when I do a service like that for someone, good things generally come my way. I'm in dire need of good things right now.

I am told it is 12 hours of work needed at least.

Where are you and how much for rack?

Nope ALLDATA says 2.1 hours max fir replacement and adjusting toe-in.

I suggest you leave your mechanic and go some where else who know what there talking about and doing.

And as for the Rack I am sorry I ran in to some trouble with another member who ripped me off, so I am affraid I can't help you. Plus I need it as a spare.

the rack is a fairly cheap fix, i am actually having mine done right now. i think you could get it done for under $400 with a remanufactured rack and reasonable labor.

i can't comment on the product since i haven't received it yet but rackdoctor.net is pretty cheap, comes with a couple reccomendations, and rich seems knowledgable and is great to talk to.

doesn't seem like a serious enough issue to call it quits.
