so this is a 2 part question guys. i work at a resturant in a huge shopping center and the partking spaces r fairly small so its really hard to get a good space where you can be sure that knowbody will hit your car. i recently got a fairly large door ding in my front fender and there was nothing i could do about it becase i didnt see the person hit me.(410 to fix) i was wondering if anybody had any thoughts about viper alarm systems which the sensors relay to your little lcd screen when a sensor goes off? the second question is ive heard that remotestart systems arnt good if you drive a manual trans is that true? thanks all of you for all the help you are all giving me!!

First, there are remote start alarms such as Clifford G5 models that can safely remote start a manual transmission car. I own one and I sell them often. However, the G5 models do not have an LCD paging remote. As far as the regular DEI line of alarms goes, you won't get remote start unless rigged or dangerously installed (IMO) but you can get many different sensors and 2 way paging remotes. You *might* be able to disable the trigger section of an impact sensor and set the warning very sensitive so it wouldn't false all day but would page you if there was an impact to your car. You can do that with a proximity sensor but it would just page you if somebody was close to your car. Try to strategically park to lower ding chances if possible.

AG5 is a much better "security" system than the 50.5X. I have the AG4 on my Cobra and the 50.5X on my truck. Advantages of 50.5X over AG5:LCD 2 way paging remote with up to one mile range-confirms status of alarm-pages you when the alarm triggersability to control alarm from phone or interweb with OPTIONAL GPS tracking unit

Advantages of AG5 over 50.5X:ignition killBlackjax anti-carjack(much better than VRS on 50.5X)back-up battery sirenmanual trans remote start capable2nd remotebetter impact sensor with INDIVIDUAL remote adjustment for warn and triggerDigital tilt sensor to detect jacking or towingDigital dual zone remotely adjustable proximity sensor- best in the industry, period.one time valet by cycling key in ignitionoptional wireless fuel killmore dedicated sensor inputs so sensors don't have to be tied to the same input (which is weak)optional wireless fuel killplainview coded valet switch

Bottom line is that we can debate which is better and why but IMO, the AG5 is much harder to defeat and CAN prevent someone from driving off with your junk. The 50.5X is easier to defeat but it will notify you when the alarm triggers if you're in range of the remote. You will not know that the AG5 is going off unless you hear the siren. If you have BlackJax turned on, you could give someone your keys and they could only drive the car a short distance before the ignition is turned off and the car dies. Pluses and minuses to both. I put the AG4 on my Cobra because it was the best, most complete alarm on the market at the time and it did manual remote start. I put the 50.5X on the truck because it is an automatic, I liked the paging capability and the additional range to be able to start the vehicle plus, I wanted to learn the functions, quirks, etc since I sell them.
