ok..i have an alpine alarm system from the previous owner. i wish i had the manual, but i guess they threw it away. anyways, it worked great until one day it just kind of sizzled out and didn't 'chirp' anymore. no worky. a couple days later, i had some extra time so i started checking fuses...found a blown one and changed it.

Now, it chirps and locks the doors.........but doesn't unlock them! :help

the thing is, my key doesn't work to unlock the doors for some reason. the only way to lock and unlock my doors is via the alpine remote. so if i chirp the alarm to lock the doors, i have to use a coathanger to pop the knob and unlock the door.

maybe it's an unlocking solenoid switch or something.....i'm not too proficient with alarm systems. can anyone help!?

So if you press the unlock it doesn't unlock... Does it chirp the alarm though?

i press button(arm) - the alarm chirps, locks the doors.i press button again(disarm)- the alarm chirps, does NOT unlock doors. it's supposed to unlock, but does not.

i'm probably just gonna have to take it to an authorized alpine dealer...

Its most likely your relay for your unlock fuction... That or the wire came off from your relay that either provides power for the relay or is the signal wire for the relay to switch over... If you can find them.. make sure the connections are good.. and the wire coming from the relay is connected to the wire that controls your unlock function....

sweet. thanks for the advice. if it helps any, when i press the button and arm, the brain and some other things make a clicking sound. when i disarm, it makes the same clicking/switching sound, but it just doesn't flip the lock open.

there are so many damn wires in such a small place, it's just kind of hard to get up in there and track each wire.... :/thanks man.

Ya actually that does make a difference.. it means that the relay for your alarm is working so it could be the signal wire that coming off your relay to your door locks is either disconnected/ relay is broke/ or your door lock relay is bad... Are you able to use your power locks when your inside your car?? Unlock and lock... If so then i'm pretty sure its your wire thats disconnected.. If you can take a volt meter to the lead wire coming off the alarm relay to the door Unlock relay and see if theres power when you click it on the alarm then that'll tell you right there the problem...
