I was thinkin about gettin an alarm for my Z but was wonderin, do they mess with or take out your stock one when puttin it in? Also if i got one i was thinkin about gettin one that came with a remote start buttin so i could just start my car from where ever i want within a couple hundred feet or whatever the range is, but what i was wonderin is does anyone else on here have remote starts on there Z's and do they like them or not, also is it ok for the car to get remote start installed? It doesnt mess anything up does it? Recently ive heard people say both that it does mess things up and that it doesnt do anything at all and its more efficient so does anyone know? Anyother information i should know?

i dont have remote start on my z but i do have it one my 03 dodge ram. only thing it messed with was the factory keyless the keyless feature is now tied in with the remote start, if i dont remote start it i have to unlock it with the oem remote, if i do remote start it i have to use the keyless on the remote start keyfob. my sister has it on her 05 scion tc she had problems with it because of the immobilizer so she doesnt use it to much anymore. its a nice thing to be able to get into a warm or cool car yes, but i wouldnt put one on my z, no

Problems occur with remote starters when they are installed incorrectly! You should NEVER ever have issues once a starter is installed. It will also NEVER affect the way your factory keyfob operates. If it does, then it is installed incorrectly..... period! We install about 300-400 a year on all shapes, sizes and types of vehicles. Hell, I'm installing one on a full size dump truck shortly.

My advice is to have it installed at a reputable shop that has installers with multiple years of experience. MECP certified or Mobile Dynamics schooling doesn't mean a thing..... it's about experience. Usually the Best Buy's and Circuit City's are not wise choices since they have high turnover rates...... which leads to unexperienced installers.

Just let me know if you have any more questions..... I've been doing it for a long, long time.

Yeah pretty much what the last people said.. It should not mess with anything unless it is installed wrong. Don't go cheap and get one of those ones from wal-mart. I had a Prestige remote start/keyless entry on my old car. The range and features were awesome.

Go with the AutoPage alarm. I had it installed on my car and I am extremely happy with it.
