Problems occur with remote starters when they are installed incorrectly! You should NEVER ever have issues once a starter is installed. It will also NEVER affect the way your factory keyfob operates. If it does, then it is installed incorrectly..... period! We install about 300-400 a year on all shapes, sizes and types of vehicles. Hell, I'm installing one on a full size dump truck shortly.
My advice is to have it installed at a reputable shop that has installers with multiple years of experience. MECP certified or Mobile Dynamics schooling doesn't mean a thing..... it's about experience. Usually the Best Buy's and Circuit City's are not wise choices since they have high turnover rates...... which leads to unexperienced installers.
Just let me know if you have any more questions..... I've been doing it for a long, long time.
