I was wondering if my factory G35 alarm can be configured for accessory locks (i.e. doors lock when ignition is turned on, unlock when ignition is turned off). I was surprised not to see this functionality with this alarm especially since it has other advanced options such as automatic windows.

You can't program the doors to lock automatically when you put the car into gear. I don't know how I feel about this, it has pros and cons...I guess with a coupe it doesn't matter because both doors will open without having to actually unlock it.

I'd say just get an aftermarket 2 way pager alarm. Much better than factory, and its an actual alarm system.

There are some alarm manufacturers that make piggyback alarm systems that can add some functionality to your factory alarm. they retain use of the OE keyfobs which generally have the best range.

It doesn't bother enough to buy an aftermarket alarm, I was just hoping I could simply change a setting to enable the accessory lock functionality. Probably just make my own circuit controlled by the ignition switch. Shouldn't be very difficult. Thanks for replying.

theres a way, requires 2 relays and running wires into the doors for the locks. locks are negative so you gotta get the relays to send a negative pulse to the lock wires in the door from positive ignition wire.

I think that depends on certain conditions. Its quoted at working up to 33 feet. The factory alarm is standard equipment.
