Hey everyone. I have a 1997 Q45 and the keyless entry remote stopped working so I ordered a new one from the dealership but still waiting on it. So im trying to use my car but cycling the key in the driver door and ignition wont disable the alarm. I can only assume that its a factory alarm because im seeing a security light near the gauge clusters running into the main harness under the dash and there is a fuse in the main box for anti-theft. For now, i disconnected the horn relay along with the headlamp and removed the extra horn that it came with.

I've been taking the bus to work for almost a week now and looking at another week of bus riding unless i can find a way to disable it. I dont have much knowedge about cars especially an infiniti. i did remove the console below the steering wheel thinking i would find a brain down there because some alarm site i went on said that its not a factory alarm because i was not able to turn off the alarm with cycling the key. btw THE CAR DOES START WITH THE ALARM SCREAMING. Any idea fellas? I'd really appreicate it.

:welcome: to NICO!

When you say cycling the key, you mean unlocking the driver's side door with the key?

thanks for the welcoming. yea i meant i locked and unlocked the door twice in each direction. i also did it in the ignition. turned the key to on then off twice. it worked for my 4runner but not this. i cant seem to understand car schematic if i was to even have 1 in front of me.

btw bravenet.com was not helpful. i did everything that he told me and somehow he felt i didnt listen to him. so he told me off and i responded to the prick and sure enough he deleted my post trying to save his face. theres plently of people who think they are a tough guy when typing on a computer. :ohno: lol and the stupid thing is, if you dont want to help then dont.

That extra horn you pulled out. Is it a siren ? There is a difference if the alarm had siren noise plus the horn wnen the alarm was activated.

Sounds like you have after market alarm integrated in the car that is not linked to the factory alarm to disable together.

the extra horn is not a siren. its an actual horn that honks. it was not rigged in there. my dad said it was a clean install to where it seemed like the car came with it. but unfortunately, he didnt tell me where he found that horn because we hardly see each other. i remember reading up about the keys. 1 was valet, master, and security (i think). i only have 1 key for the car. for sure its not the valet key because i can get into the clove box with it. any possibility that i need to have the master key to disarm it and the key i have might not be the one?

If that is the case. I think it's the factory alarm only. Integrating after market with factory is PIA requires 14 diodes plus lot's of relay.

If locking and unlock with the key at the driver door won't disable the factory alarm. Try with the key at the trunk. That's all you can do before ripping out the factory module under the dash.
