I have a 2009 M35X 100K+ miles and recently when I open the drivers side door the alarm will start going off. I shut off the car, wait then restart car and alarm is off. When I open the drivers side door from the inside it went off again!!

I've had random alarm issues before but I thought it was related to the hood sensor and it fixed itself by just opening and closing hood.

I also recently had driver's side door lock sticking issues but that seems to have been remedied with a shot of WD-40.

Is there any way to easily disable the alarm system? I'm never parked in a high risk area so I don't really need it.

Thanks

I think your problem has something to do with the driver's door lock. The factory alarm is armed and disarmed through the driver's key cylinder as follows:

Arming is controlled by a brown wire at the driver's key cylinder through a single negative pulse, and also contols lock.
Disarming is controlled by a purple/red wire at the driver's key cylinder through a double negative pulse, and also controls unlock.
Disarming with no unlock is controlled by the intelligent key and ignition.

You did not indicate how you are unlocking the car; whether it be with the remote or the smart entry button, but I suspect that the driver's door key cylinder has something to do with the condition you indicate. It sounds to me as if the key cylinder is not sending the proper pulses to the alarm module.

Thanks for your response. I always use smart entry on door.

Went to dealer today and for $60 they told me they need at least 2 hrs to diagnose problem and figure out what part needs to be replaced. Total cost $500 - $700, depending on the part that needs fixing.

It shocks me that I can't disable this alarm.

Try using the physical key in the door, to turn the key cylinder and see if the alarm arms/disarms that way.

I self diagnosed this issue. My drivers side door lock doesn't always lock using door button. If I open the door when the door hasn't locked the alarm goes off. It works for a while then doesn't. Right now it's working. This auto lock feature will probably cause door activator failure after a while. This is a $500 problem for each door!!
