-- It's cold in St. Louis right now, real cold, like fifteen degrees....So I got a good deal ($55) on an Audiovox keyless entry/remote start. Problem is, when I am using just the keyless entry part(car not remote started) the factory alarm goes off something like 1 out of every 10 or 20 times. Pulled a relay & that didnt work, now I just have the alarm horn disconnected, so when it does happen its less annoying for my neighbors. Still annoying for me though, because I have to get back out and put the key in the lock to stop the lights from flashing and to get the ignition to work, sort of negating the whole "convenience" factor. Thanks in advance for any light that you can shed. Nico is Nice.

I've been told that unbolting the hood pin switch and letting it dangle under the hood will prevent the factory system from arming - fooling the factory alarm into thinking the hood is always open. I'm not sure if that's the case or not though.

I think what's happening is someone is locking their door manually with the inside door switch - causing the factory alarm to arm. Could be wrong though... My old Q did this from time to time - usually when I had guests in the car. I spent a good bit of time integrated both alarms together on this Q.

In using my aftermarket alarm I've found that sequence is everything. If I open the trunk or passenger front door after locking with the remote the alarm will go off the next time the DF door is opened. If I unlock the car with the remote and never open the DF door, then relock with the remote, the alarm will go off next time I enter through the DF door. I was having problems with the door lock actuator in a rear door and it would open an inch with the car locked. This also set off the alarm the next time the DF door was opened.

I'm sure I've thoroughly confused you but I hope this helps.
