My freakin alarm installer screwed me again. After hooking up my remote start, my car dies today.

It won't crank. I have to pump the gas to get it to turn over

No tachometer at allCEL on the dashTCS on the dash"slip" on the dash

After doing some searching, it looks like maybe it's my airbox sensor?

I unplugged the battery overnight (to reset the cu) and it's still doing the same thing. No tach, and all of the above lights lit up on the dash....

I went and looked, and sure the hell enough my airbox isn't mounted. The screws that attach to the radiator support are missing. I can pull my airbox out with my hands. Jackasses. I am totally taking them to small claims court...

Is this my airbox sensor? Is it my ECU?Is it something else?

anyone that can save me the hassle of towing it to the dealer would be on my short list of awesome people

Sounds like a wiring issue as the airbox sensor would have nothing to do with your tach working or not.

Yeah Im beginning to suspect the ECU. I unplugged the battery overnight, but the symptoms persist.

Im having it towed to the dealer next week to have it diagnosed.

Im also taking the alarm instaler to court. Theyve now cost me $400+ in fixing their screwup, on top of what I am going to have to spend to get my car fixed.

I highly doubt it's a computer or sensor issue. Sounds more to me like the installer spliced or cut some wires incorrectly.

We'll see.

I wish someone could give me some info on where to look for the problem. Im having a hell of a time finding transportation with my car broken...I guess there's not a lot of info on our cars. I've looked for a service manual, but haven't been able to find one.

Unfortunately, It's really hard to say over the internet. The installer could have done any of a massive number of things.

Since the CEL is on, a good starting point would be to check for codes. Since you can't drive the car, you might see if there's a shop that will let you rent or borrow a scanner. Once you see what codes are showing, that might give us an idea of where to go from here.

Thanks for the info

Do I need an ECU scanner? If so, would I need one for an i35 (2002) or would an i30 be suitable?

Thanks again for the tip!

Any OBDII scanner is fine. All cars since 1996 use the same format, so all I30 and I35 are the same. You can buy one, but there are places that will do it for free if you can get the car to them (Auto Zone, Checker and the like). They might even let you rent or borrow a scanner so you don't have to get the car to them...I've never asked before so I'm not sure.
