wait a minute... I just read that this is a new feature that isn't out yet. When I bought this car I specifically asked "So if someone bashes out my window, the alarm will go off?" The salesperson told me yes.

So wth does the current alarm do? Someone bashes out my window and then opens my door it goes off?

Not sure on your SL alarm... I have a base S.

BUT typically the impact/glass break will do nothing. It's when they open the door is when the alarm will go off. When I install an alarm system, I add Glass sensor AND shock sensor, sometimes a parameter sensor(depending on the car) . You can use a scribe punch and it will not set off a shock sensor. That is where the glass sensor(microphone set for glass frequency) or a radar(parameter) sensor will catch it.

However if it's a smash and grab, you have no chance...other than a gun

How would I add these sorts of sensors? Would they affect my warranty? and would they be compatible with my current alarm system? I'm not really sure how that works
